  • The Wed night market at Uncles was a lot of fun, even in the rain. Great music! Many vendors with very good food and interesting crafts.
  • Uncle Robert's is an institution at the end of the roads at Kalapana. There's always kava (awa) and food available, and on Wednesday night, there's a big gathering of Puna society for live music, food...  more »

  • Uncle Roberts is one of the reasons I moved to the Big Island. The Red Road that leads up to it is one of the other reasons. This is a beautiful night market on Wednesdays but any other day it's a snack bar and a few vendors. Wednesday night it gets crowded with amazing food, amazing music, dancing and a friendly crowd. There is beer/drinks available as well as Kumbucha and Jun and all sorts of other goodies from vegan to piles of meat, whatever your hungry for you can find it here. Arrive early around 4:30 to get a uncrowded experience or arrive at 6PM and find it shoulder-to-shoulder. There is paid parking ($3) on the lava and even more expensive VIP parking next to the convenience store for $5.
  • Wonderful place. You have to stop there on Wednesdays. A lot of good food and good music during the farmer market!
  • Very interesting farmers market. Not too big, but it's very unique. You will see lots of locals around, and the supermarket is very interesting too. Parking could be tough if you're not visiting the supermarket.
  • What a fun experience with live music and great food choices. Young and old alike will appreciate the market. Be prepared to either park on the side of the road and walk a ways, or pay to park right at the market.
  • Hands down best market iv been to on da island. Great people, ono grindz, good vibes.
