Consistently ranked as one of the best beaches in the world, Lanikai Beach attracts photographers for the view over two islands called the na mokulua, or mokes. In fact, the coast is often populated with photographers and models working on photo shoots for magazines. The beach is accessible by public paths through a nearby residential neighborhood. Bring water, snacks, and sunscreen; the beach has no facilities. Take a look at our Kailua trip itinerary site to schedule your visit to Lanikai Beach and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Since it was hard to find a parking spot on a nearby street, we were able to park our car in Kailua Beach public parking. That area has bathrooms as well. It was an easy walk of about 15 to 20...

  • Yes, the sand is like talcum powder. Yes, the water is is gentle, turquoise and beautiful, but there are 4 VALID reasons to visit somewhere else. #1. You are invading a neighborhood. Its NOT a park...

  • Beautiful beach, can get pretty busy, one of the best sunrise spots on the island.
  • Can't recommend enough! Amazing beach, short walk from the parking at the next beach down. A real hidden gem as it is in a residential area. Great view and pristine aqua water!
  • Love this beach! BEWARE there are JELLYFISH! Parking is a pain, no shade, and it can be crowded, but the beach is amazing! Soft sand, gentle waves, kid friendly, and fairly shallow. If I'm in Oahu, I always have to return!
  • Very clean beach with calm water see though at time's with a nice stretch of soft white sand. We got there though beach access (3).. just keep your eye out for it. It's the third entrance down after you cross the bridge by the lanikai momentum little Tower thing. They have other entries to the beach but some of them only lead you to rock's and you won't be able to reach the beach from that point and will have to turn around.. and last sense it's a neighborhood beach. There are no showers or restrooms available to use, unless you use them a Kailua beach park. Which is a 1 mile walk if you park there and walked over there like we did. No shade or trees bring umbrella - hat's or sunscreen and snorkeling gear. Comfortable shoes if your walking and a wagon to carry all of your things really helps out. I hopes this helps you out and have a great day.
  • One of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii. A little crowded but still worth all those gorgeous blue views and soft white sand. Very clean and maintained. Ample parking areas available.
