  • We found this beach on our first day of exploration. As with many of Hawaii's beaches, it is very out-of-the-way. There was a shelter house with no facilities. A few places to wade. Rocky otherwise.  more »
  • Nice tide pools to check out. Seems like a good place for kids, but watch for glass. Not a large beach until you hike back along the trail. That leads to the nice beach if you want privacy. Pretty spo...  more »
  • Off the beaten path, with a windy drive down the hillside and a 20 minute hike along the coast, you find a beautiful and isolated black sand beach with a glimpse into local Hawaiian life.  more »

  • Avoid!!!!! I drove down by myself as the sun was setting, and it was a gorgeous view until I reached the bottom with tsunami strewn garbage and broken down houses. Multiple people were wandering around drugged out of their minds, and one kid stared me directly in the eyes as I drove past giving me a menacing look. Needless to say I made a U-turn ASAP and headed up to a different beach park. Definitely, absolutely, do not camp here.
  • The local folks are friendly and the tourists are afraid to go there. It makes it the perfect spot to be. Plenty of good shell and sea glass hunting.
  • Best beach I've been too hands down.
  • Pretty place, but don't expect much in the way of sandy beach. There is a beach, but very small.
  • I would NOT recommend a tourist go to this park. Run down neighborhood with a couple people that looked like they were on Meth or some other hard drug. We turned right around and left. It's a good indication that you shouldn't go to the area when one of the homemade signs says "Go F@#KING slow".
