This was a fun excursion. The crew was friendly and it was fun watching them sail the catamaran from Kona to Keauhou where the manta rays come to feed. The seas were fairly calm but there were swells ... read more »
It was very well done, great crew and the experience of watching the manta rays was awesome. i highly recommend it but if you get sea sick, do not do it.
Beware.... We saw NO MANTAS! I get they are wild animals but for what we paid it was an expensive boat ride. Not worth it at all. They guarantee or you get to go again free. BUT when you visit Hawaii ... read more »
My wife and I booked a trip with Kona Style before actually arriving in HI. When we arrived on the island, we saw other prominent companies with large boats and lots of marketing promoting their excursions. Though tempted to switch, we stuck to our guns and followed through with our Kona Style reservation. And we are glad we did!!! The Kona Style boat was just the right size but more importantly, the crew was young and eager to please! They really seemed like an up and coming charter with ambition and enthusiasm that translated into lots of concern for the passengers having an unforgettable time. The girl captaining the boat was very responsible, cool and very much in charge. Highly recommend!
The night manta snorkel was not worth the money. Though the ride there was enjoyable, they are one "island time" which means an hour late. When we got on the tour the captain was joking around similar to one would as a used car sales man. Since we got to the manta spot late thanks to "island time" we did not have a place to connect to one of few agricultural anchors. So we had to go back to a nearby dock for an anchor (which is illegal to it put an anchor on a protected reef by the way). Which was concerning that they didn't seem to care. Once we were 1hour and a half late to get in the water (based on all the surrounding night snorkel crusies). The captain in training dropped the anchor we went back to get in the water, which all humans make mistakes they just added up. The boat decided to go "free". The boat moved freely about the ocean with out us on it. The attendees (the people put in charge of our safety) were not involved and the situation was unsettling. Over all would not recommend.
Great Experience, Great crew, they made sure everyone was having fun and maximized the Manta Ray experience. One of the best parts of the trip by far!
