Where to stay in Kailua-Kona

If you wish to indulge yourself while on the Kona coastline of the "Big Island," book your stay at one of Kailua-Kona's fully furnished beachside villas, offering spa services, free Wi-Fi, and secure parking. You can also try one of the coastline's luxury resorts, featuring tennis courts, fitness centers, and on-site activities like hula lessons and diving classes. Smaller hotels a short drive from the city may not offer beach access, but they provide plenty of privacy at a fraction of the cost of the area's big resorts.

  • We had stumbled on to the Kona Inn and experienced the best ever crab and shrimp cake with cocktails, then returned another day for the Farmers' Market nearby, for this Kona Shopping Village and for a fine dinner with torch light and beach-side dining at the Kona Inn. It is quite a pleasant bunch of shops with a lot of local character and beautiful flora. We bought Kona coffee gifts for friends back stateside. the steak and seafood salad at the Kona Inn were wonderful. During or after dinner you can cross the lawn to the sea wall. It is an excellent night time moment characteristic of the Big Island.
  • This is not a review about the stores and restaurants: many are excellent and I will continue to patronize them. This is a review about the facilities. Much of the building is severely termite damaged: you can see termite droppings everywhere. The restrooms are disgusting most of the time. This is one of the best oceanfront areas in Kona; I just wish the facilities matched the world-class location.
  • Great beachfront shops for all your souvenirs or other needs. Parking is sparse but the walk isn't too bad. Bring your suit to take a dip when the sun's out.
  • Liked the choices in restaurants. Key West feel on the water. Good for souvenirs. Decent food.
  • Small shipping center along Ali'i Drive. Nice little restaurant around back with great views of the ocean. Not much parking near the center but easily accessible when strolling around.
