  • This was a great area to walk through. The fresh fruit was excellent, however... We found the same souvenirs and shirts for less money at shops down the road. I think the idea is a farmers market has ...  more »
  • My home is a cooking school in the condominium in Hawaii. Eating fruits in Hawaii, papaya and mango is one of the fun. So, at this farmer's market (FM) before checking in to the hotel, 買ikomimsu a lot of fruit. The good points: 1. Other FM held a regular weekly once, but this FM are offered 5 days a week. 2. mango and papaya are sold at the supermarket is mostly immature in number of what you are selling on this FM will keep at room temperature, days have eaten from the day in ripe. 3. for example papaya at 7 $ 5, compared to the super cheap. Cooking school is a better FM. Because it is still far from Kona, Hilo FM is the rainiest area further high-quality fruits and vegetables cheap and sell, is also recommended.

  • The market was full of chatty merchants, a good selection with merchandise and some pretty sweet deals. It is worth checking out while you are in Mona.  more »

  • Still my favorite farmers market in the Kona area even though more and more of it is just items people import from catalogs. You will find some local art here as well as local fruits and flowers. A lot of the fruit is now straight from Costco and presented as local so be careful about what you are after. Still though, if it looks good and smells good who cares if it came from Costco. Be sure to negotiate everything since the prices are often high. They should move quickly either lowering the price or more often adding quantity for the same price. This is a primary income stream for many locals. Massive avocados for $2-$3 each. Single one makes a bucket of guacamole at your condo. Great bouquets of local flowers for $10-$15.
  • This was one of the low key yet very pleasant moments of our trip. I especially enjoyed speaking with the locals, some produce sellers who brought the food over from the Hilo side. We had fun shopping and got "treasures" at very reasonable prices: two quite different strings of decorative shells, some men's sandals, a colorful small bag that my wife uses to take her lunches to work. The shop selling local flora yielded some exquisitely colorful photos!
  • Great local produce and Hawaii inspired arts/crafts/souvenirs selection. Parking is limited but not impossible. Got a good deal for ripe bananas - 10 dollars a box. Freshly cut pineapple was delicious! Papaya was super sweet! Compare to similar markets on other islands this one definitely stands out. Tons of fruit!
  • Nice little farmers market. Fruits, veggies, and knick knacks galore. Don't buy from the first vendor you see. Another vender a few booths down may have the same thing for less. Easy parking, but not everyone takes credit card. For someone like myself that never carries cash....this is a pain. Still worth visiting though!
  • Small farmers market in a parking lot along Ali'i Drive. Great place to buy fruit and gifts to take home. Lots of handmade stuff from around the island.
