Turtle Bay Beach, Kahuku

4.3
Must see · Beach · Nature / Park
Protected from big waves, Turtle Bay Beach is a lesser-known spot for snorkeling. The calmness of the water allows for great visibility of the coral reefs and tropical fish below the water's surface. The public beach also offers a good chance of spotting the endangered Hawaiian green sea turtle, a highlight for many visiting the island. The resort on the beach has been used as a setting for many TV shows and films, like "Hawaii 5-0," "Full House," and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." If you work up an appetite swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing, there is a restaurant on the beach. • Loved being able to see the turtles in their natural habitat. There were also volunteers to make sure no one was getting too close and I really appreciated it. Super cool experience and would 10/10...  more »

  • This is a public beach and has public parking with the resort parking. There are a few permanent beach umbrellas. The waves are relatively calm and it stays fairly shallow a decent distance from shore. It is a little rocky, but not terrible. Showers and restrooms are available. We go fairly often with my young kids. They love it.
  • Not too crowded (at least with the resort shut down) and a nice beach. It's basically on a coral reef though so be very careful about going into the water and has a bit of a strong current.
  • Best little gem that you can find due to the fact that there aren't that many tourists the locals are taking over the beach which means that there's not that many people it's quiet and you don't have too much stress when you're watching your kids. I also like the fact that the current is not that strong and it was a nice sandy beach. I would recommend taking your family here any day during this time.
  • Awesome place to snorkel and see turtles. We showed up at 8am and the water was perfect!
  • Just went tlo look at the view, it was great.
