  • The Crouching Lion Mini Hike is not obvious to find. You have to walk on the road (very close to passing cars) and you will find the trail near a sign "do not pass". We stationed at Swanzy Beach Park (at about a 20-minute walk from the entrance). The hike is not too difficult. Important to have good shoes. About thirty minutes and then you have a magnificent view! This does not seem a very touristy place, so perfect to be alone with nature.

  • Having done the popular hikes on Oahu, we decided to try some of the less "touristy" ones. Finding the trailhead for the hike can be a bit of a challenge as there really isn't any official marker or a...  more »

  • Little effort for a great reward! This hike has amazing views with just a quick 30min hike up. Park by the cars on the south side around Kahana Bay beach. Enter at the 2nd sign and follow the paths. We entered at the 1st sign from the parking this time and we ended up taking a longer way to the top. It all connected and looped around. So no harm done. Beautiful views!!! Be careful as it is a steep hike so take your time!
  • A beautiful and rewarding hike. Could take around 1-1.5 round trip depending on your pace and how long you wanna seat and enjoy the view. It can be a bit risky, but as long as you watch your steps and make your movement carefully, you are good. Get ready to crawl on all four at times. The view is breathtaking. The pictures do not tell the whole story, you have to experience it for yourself. There are two entry points (that I know of). One is where they have the "no entry" signs and a 2nd non official patch (marked by pink ribbons on branches) about 50 meters north along the road from the signs. I would suggest going up the 2nd path and down the 1st one.
  • Quick and relatively easy. One of my favorite hikes on the island.
  • The Crouching Lion is a nice hike, but it gets even nicer, if you continue going up from the crouching lion to Pu'u manamana ridge trail. That's where things start getting interesting.
  • Awesome hike and amazing view, be sure to wear a shoe with a good grip some areas are challenging. Also secure your belongings and make sure there is nothing in your car when you park saw a few smashed windows after the hike.
