Where to stay in Juneau

For easy access to the best of Juneau’s cultural attractions, dining options, and historical pubs, consider paying extra to stay in a downtown hotel while on vacation. A bed and breakfast or lodge farther out of town provides the great views and outdoor experience for which Alaska is famed. Before booking a lodge, check carefully how far it is from the city center. Distances on maps of a state and city this big can be deceptive.

  • It should not be a surprise that this place is seasonal. 15 years ago, we visited during peak salmon season in early August and saw a lot of activities which are educational and informative. However, this time, we visit in early June, when there is no salmon in the river, there is not much to see here.
  • Fun little place to check out. The tour is quick but informative and inside is a nice viewing area to see all kinds of water creatures and a little exhibit to touch some of them.
  • We got a quick tour of the hatchery and how it works, then viewed the fish tanks full of all sorts of little sea monsters. Great fun.
  • Short but great! Love that we are helping Nature.
  • Interesting but the guides could give more information.
