  • i've visited about 3 times, most recently in late May 2017 and December 2017. May was warm, green, beautiful dry weather and superb birding at very well-stocked and thoughtfully arranged bird feeders....  more »
  • I had never heard of this park. We ended up here because other state and national parks were booked up. While the park is large, most is remote. The tent and RV camping area is small and intimate, but...  more »
  • We waxed the river. It's a nice little park. We walked some trails. Lots of photo opportunities. It's not free to get in.  more »
  • I liked the park even though I was with a group and was only there for a short period of time. My favorite spot was the bird blind that the park maintains which enables the visitor to see many species of birds all at once. I also liked the picnic area by the river. It was scenic. We met the park superintendent and an educational ranger which were both extremely nice and knowledgeable about the park. All in all, a very good experience.
  • I had an amazing experience backpacking and setting camp up at the primitive campsites at South Llano River State Park. While I was only able to stay one night due to time constraints, it was extremely pleasant. Campfires weren’t allowed in the primitive sites but that’s okay as, with less light pollution, stargazing was phenomenal. The hiking trails were great and long. During the entire trip we only saw 4 other people. Next time I’m going to bring my mountain bike as the trails seemed fairly reasonable for biking and you could definitely get some speed going down the steep hills. 5 out of 5 stars. I would highly recommend camping out here!
  • The park is beautiful with large trees along the river. In summer you will hear lot of song birds singing. There are four bird blinds maintained by an army of volunteers. You will see lot of birds coming to take dip in water and eat. This is a beautiful place for camping. The place is also in bortle 2-3 scale darkness for stargazing
  • Very friendly knowledgeable staff, welcoming camp host. Great hiking for beginners, and longer steeper trails for slightly tougher hikes. Bird blinds very well set up, especially for beginner birders.
  • Great Texas Hill Country State Park. 55 camping spots with additional.primitive camping availability. All RV spots are 30 amp / water; no sewage connection. Great wildlife and hiking / biking trails.
