  • White Tank is a very interesting area with nice rocks, of which the Arch there is only one. Walking around between or on the rocks (scramble) and get lost in the maze of rocks!

  • Summer temperatures reach 45 degrees. If you are trekking start early and with plenty of water. Fillable bottles only at the entrances to the Park (other than Yosemite and grand canyon that there are several points) went at 7 am. And at that time is that you can see animals: rabbits, hares, lizards, squirrels and from the car also saw 3 coyotes

  • Once we found it, we enjoyed the arch. They could do a lot better job with their signage. Once you start the trail take a right. No sign telling you that. It is very close to the start of the trail, b...  more »

  • A highlight of the park. The chaos is beautiful and nice to walk through. The arch is breathtaking.
  • There is a short 2/10 mile (0.3 km) round-trip hike to get to one of the few arches found in this park. The arch is not huge so don't expect it to be like the ones found in Utah. The arch has a couple of boulders laying against it you may not get any fantastic natural frame pictures. Still, an interesting site for a small effort. As with all hikes in Joshua Tree, bring water, wear sunblock and a hat as there is little or no shade depending on the time of day.
  • Loved the hike to arch rock and being able to climb on all the rocks here! Very pretty area.
  • It's a lovely place to take otitis during the day but I'm sure it's way better at night. The trail is difficult to follow but once you follow others, you'll quickly find the arch.
  • An amazing place to go at night. The view in the back drop of the milkway galaxy looks brilliant.

Where to stay in Joshua Tree National Park

If you want to spend the night in Joshua Tree National Park, grab a tent and head for one of the numerous campgrounds scattered throughout the park. Some campgrounds feature a reservation system while others operate on a first-come, first-served basis. A couple also provide potable water, but most do not. To sleep on a mattress and pillow with a roof over your head, stay in one of the towns surrounding the park. The towns of Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms offer a number of inns and motels in a tranquil desert setting. West of the park, the options expand into the resort area of Palm Springs. Here you'll find everything from high-end spas and resorts to chain hotels, small inns, and bed and breakfasts. The park is situated about two hours from Los Angeles (if there's no traffic), making a day trip from the city another possibility.
