  • We went to this park on a pretty hot day and it was refreshingly cool among all of the trees there. It was fun to watch people floating down from above in hang gliders and landing on a beach close to ...  more »
  • We have stayed here several times, however, this visit only two sections were open. The D section is where we were placed and upon using the showers, there was no heat in the shower area.  more »
  • Lots of trails in the area and canoeing/fishing nearby. Kind of crowded campsites but well maintained. Clean showers. Early and late season recommended- it gets insanely busy in the summer.  more »

  • I adore this lovely, isolated state park located at the mouth of a crystal-clear lake. The grounds are well kept and the rangers on duty are always helpful, knowledgeable, and responsive to requests and emergencies. I have spent many a summer here, in the sacred migratory destination of the Nez Perce Tribe. There is a very special, peaceful spirit here and I have many cherished memories. The park and the surrounding community are the gateway to the Eagle Cap Wilderness, providing access to hundreds of miles of hiking trails. The overnight facilities at the park are among the nicest in Oregon and are consistently improved. Camping or trailer-camping at the park serves as the perfect jumping point into the rest of the Wallowas including Zumwalt Prairie, the Snake River, Hells Canyon and the Eagle Cap Wilderness.
  • Not bad, but a bit disappointing. The best views are from the north end, where one gets a reflection of the mountains in the lake. The water was very calm when we visited, so kayaking and paddle boarding would be options.
  • Super busy in the summer. Big campground, not much privacy though. The lake is nice. If you live near Bend or Portland or closer to the cascades, go there first. This place is cool, but not worth a very long drive.
  • Gorgeous vistas and an great place to take a family trip. Lodging options available as well as camp sites.
  • The sheer magnitude sheer magnitude of the mountain range when you come around the corner absolutely stunning and it just gets better from there.
