The Mauch Chunk Opera House, Jim Thorpe

Create an itinerary including The Mauch Chunk Opera House
Continuously renovated, it has come a long way since it began regularly presenting live music in 2003. Since then, it has seen the installation of new steel roof, floor and balcony seats (no place more comfortable), backstage electricity, remodeled gallery, lobbies, and concessions, and a host of other changes.

We serve beer and wine, which can then be taken into the listening area.

Best to park in the Carbon County lot behind the downtown train station, and then walk 2 blocks up Broadway, passing many restaurants you may want to dine in first.

  • This was our third concert at Mauch Chunk Opera House and it didn’t disappoint. The concerts are great and the Opera House has character. Can’t go wrong.

  • Best place to see a show! All the seats are good seats. The acoustics are really good. There's room to dance in front of the stage. The bar is reasonably priced, and the line never gets too long. Restrooms are clean and easy to access. The only downside for some would be parking, but the walk is enjoyable and there's a shuttle available if you want it.
  • Although the parking can be tricky at times it is well worth it. The historic theater is beautiful to behold even if you're not there to see a concert. The concerts are so diverse and introduce the locals to so many bands you might have never heard of. It is wonderful that they host independent film festival and lots of up-and-coming cover bands. The little snack shop have just enough the lights to fill a nook and cranny during intermission. There's a lot of history on the walls on both floors so it's worth taking some time to stop and read. There's a cute little sitting area on the second floor to grab a beverage and chat with your friends before the performance. I highly suggest checking this place out.
  • It's a great old opera house... Room to dance in front of the stage, lovely old building. Friendly staff. Fun venue.
  • Nice venue, was very warm on a very hot day. Would definitely go again ( on a cooler day ).
  • Great venue but no parking. You gotta park at the train station and take a shuddle...but it's free.
