The Mauch Chunk Opera House, Jim Thorpe

Concert · Concert / Show
Continuously renovated, it has come a long way since it began regularly presenting live music in 2003. Since then, it has seen the installation of new steel roof, floor and balcony seats (no place more comfortable), backstage electricity, remodeled gallery, lobbies, and concessions, and a host of other changes.

We serve beer and wine, which can then be taken into the listening area.

Best to park in the Carbon County lot behind the downtown train station, and then walk 2 blocks up Broadway, passing many restaurants you may want to dine in first.

  • Beautiful intimate venue for quality original and tribute bands. Our experiences here included hearing a Canadian female duo called DALA, one of the greatest musical experiences we have ever experienced. Our most recent experience was Sweet Baby James, a wonderful James Taylor tribute.
  • Our favorite venue! Lots of quality bands play there, drink prices are very good, seats are comfortable and sound quality is superb. Everyone who volunteers there is friendly, warm and make you feel like family
  • What a beautiful opera house and Jim Thorpe is a quaint town. I wish I could have spent more time there. I went to the opera house to see Enter the Haggis in concert. The architecture is amazing and the small museum in the balcony gives a great overview of the opera houses’s history. There is not a bad seat in the house and the sound system was great! I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the town.
  • Great venue to see a show. Great sound and the size is just right. No bad seats. We saw a Fleetwood Mac tribute band called Tusk and they were excellent!
  • Just saw the Tartan Terrors there. It was my 3rd time in the last 10+ years. Love them. So sad to hear about Pete. RIP. Beautiful, historic building. Has a real charm to it.
