Very informative and great history lesson. Can't believe the jail was still functioning into the 1990's! Glad they kept the heat on for us on the last day in mid-November! more »

I didn't get an opportunity to visit the jail due to it being closed when we're visiting. However, I love Broadway Street and all the architecture. Highly recommend a visit if you've yet to experience this beautiful and historic town.
I grew up in the former Summer House right across from this museum. My dad was kind to the owner's wife whenever she needed to make a U-Turn at the Opera House. Out of her kindness, she allowed me and my siblings to have free tours. I've always loved this museum. I highly recommend everyone to go if you haven't already. I've taken tours one after another. I always had fun there. Such mysteries and knowledge to take in. The inside of this Old Jail is like the pages of a book. Every time you read it, the more you notice, learn, and think of. The tour guides all enjoyed my company, although you'd never expect a seven year old little girl to take such fascination to this kind of scenery. I gave five stars because of the experiences I've had in that museum. Once again, I highly recommend everyone to go to this place. It will not let you down.
I love this place. I go here every time I go to Jim Thorpe. It holds a lot of history and stories. Whenever I bring my camera to take pictures, there are always these small orbs somewhere in the picture. The tour guide tells us that those small orbs are the spirits who have been in the jail. The jail wasn’t “scary” but I did feel a little frightened when we went down to the dungeon. It was dark and it was where the prisoners were kept for solitary confinement. As they said in the beginning of the tour, I did feel an eery presence surrounding me. The tour was so fun!! To me, this whole experience is very amusing. I do suggest this to anyone who comes down to Jim Thorpe. Especially, ones who are interested in the paranormal.
Holds a lot of history. Great tour by a knowledgeable guide. The Molly Maguire's story is very interesting!
Definitely worth a visit. Try to get Peggy Sue for your guide. Attn : there is on site parking and veterans get 50% off.
