We stayed a couple of nights in Jim Thorpe and walked down to the train station and bought our tickets, FYI no senior discount but that's ok because the money goes to maintaining the trains. We rode..... more »

Great small town attraction. Beautiful ride, clean and safe. Plenty of small town history to dive into. Parking is set up as best as it can be if your looking at later times for the train ride... more »

My wife and I were lucky to get tickets for this train excursion as there were hundreds of people in Jim Thorpe on this Fall Foliage day. Nice ride through the gorge and over the river looking back... more »

Great fun for the family! My husband and and I went to this quaint little town at the Fall Festival. It was crowded. Make sure you check online for the schedule and events. Train ride was nice, if uneventful. It goes across town, across the bridge, stops, then heads back to start. That's it. OK for kids' first train ride, otherwise there are better train rides elsewhere in PA. Town center had crafts. I bought a pretty crocheted scarf. Prices on food is high, as you would expect. Only a couple of restaurants and they were very crowded with long wait all day. Coffee shop was very good. They had a good system for getting people served. Quiche and coffee was tasty. Jim Thorpe museum smells moldy, low budget. I guess they are trying with what they have.

Very great experience! If you want the best experience then I suggest you ride on the caboose. You are allowed to stand on the platform, sit on the booth seats and bunk beds, and even bring food! The train ride is 70 minutes long as it takes you through the Lehigh Gorge, the gap between several mountains that contains the Lehigh River. On the ride you cross bridges, go through a train yard, and even see a small waterfall! If you are vacationing to Jim Thorpe or just taking a day trip then I highly suggest that you take this train ride!

Visited the Jim Thorpe Winterfest. The fest portion was rather small but it suited what we needed; a day trip to get out of the house while my brother was in the area visiting. The food at the vendors tasted good (some German style food was available and the pastries were great!!). We walked up the hill through downtown, visited some shops, and took in the architecture (wonderful old buildings to take photos of). Purchased tickets and enjoyed a train ride through the mountain valley. The narration was wonderful and we will definitely make this a function we will attend each year.

This is a beautiful scenic train ride. The staff are really knowledgeable and were great at pointing out little things to see or take photos of. Went with our ten year old and we had a blast! It’s about a 70 minute ride and really affordable!

This is a definite must if you're visiting the Poconos. The train ride is beautiful in the fall. Can be cold so dress warm but it's well worth it. We were able to catch the Harvest while there which was also fun to check out. I would highly recommend this ride, especially if you love trains!
