  • We were here for three days. We came in on the weekend and since our trailer is self contained with solar, we parked in the primitive loop. The park staff was very friendly and the park was pretty cle...  read more »

  • Took my boys fishing here for the first time. It was a pretty cute lake. They were able to cast the line and had a great time, but weren't catching fish. Recommend the fish hatchery about 3 miles away...  read more »
  • Many nice campsites to choose from at this campground. Nice tall trees and walking distance to the lake to fish. The lake gets pretty crowded but it is still nice and perfect for kids to fish. Also, only a short drive to the hatchery or other stream fishing as well as to the hot springs and hiking trails.
  • I highly recommend this majestic and gorgeous location for camping. In my opinion, the NM State Parks are well maintained and better equipped then the federal campsites. The Park Rangers are very helpful and worked hard from dawn to dusk in upkeeping the facilities. The lake is beautiful. Fishing was not great this week. I understand that it is best to go in spring and fall for the fishing. The reserved camp sites are the best. Some are first come first serve. All of the camp ground sites are ample and have campfire rings and picnic tables. Ranger Manuel Sanchez and Staff are top notch. The security and environment was safe. Amanda's Country Store in La Cueva is the closest convenience store around. They are responible and friendly. THe also have of the camping equipment and needs. For beer or liquor runs, there is a so call package liquor store in Jemez Springs. It is a bar and the will sell you liquor. Don;t expect them to be competive with your local grocery or convenience store. You will pay extra. Outside the Jemez Pueblo before entering into Jemez Springs there is a liquor joint that is reasonable. The beauty of the drive was a great scenic route. Fenton is a must see.
  • I absolutely love this place, the area is well kept and quiet, there are plenty of places to camp and the fishing is usually pretty great. There are so many places to stay over night and there are plenty of places to sit lakeside and fish all day. If you're ever in the area I definitely recommend taking the time to stop by to enjoy the scenery.
  • Yes I highly recommend this lake! For fishing it's is good in the Spring and Fall months only. For nature adventures it is always great area! The hatchery is right down the road and has a "kids fishing only" pond which is a guarantee the kidos to catch there. I don't go on holidays to fish being that the crowd limits me to move around the lake but after the holiday and checking the stocking report on this lake that the BEST time to go fishing. Now if you enjoy alot of people around go on the holidays to this lake you will enjoy! Have fun!
  • One of my favorite places in New Mexico. In a relatively short drive from the city, you'll find the relaxation you want with beautiful views. Hiking, fishing, or drifting on a small boat in the lake.
