  • I know the park rangers are spread thin, but the check-in system is pretty disorganized. If you aren't familiar with the park and campground, it could be easy to take a wrong turn if you're trying...

  • Fenton Lake is a beautiful spot, great for a day out and picnic. We did not catch any fish but had a wonderful day!

  • I have always loved Fenton lake. I have traveled there from Albuquerque for the last 45 years. The Jemez wilderness has always been such a great place to be to have a wonderful weekend there is Soo much to do there.
  • Gorgeous views, diverse wildlife watching, and great trout fishing! We were here in November after Thanksgiving and recommend dressing in layers as it’s nice and warm when the sun is out, but as soon as it’s gone it gets cold QUICK. The drive out is also very beautiful and scenic. Dress warm, it’s worth it!
  • Fenton Lake State Park was a location for the 1976 sci-fi flick The Man Who Fell to Earth, starring David Bowie. The rangers tell me people still show up on a regular basis looking for the commemorative plaque, which was stolen a few years ago. Improved campsites: $10/night
  • Great place to enjoy yourself and those with families. Fishing was great and if nothing else, the views are awesome. Everyone will enjoy themselves whether they fish or not.
  • It is an excellent place for a relaxing weekend picnic with friends and family.
