  • This would be a beautiful place for a picnic. We went at 7:30 on a Sunday morning, so we weren't able to utilize the facilities for eating. Sound of the river next to Battleship Rock was so relaxing.....  more »
  • There is a day fee parking area (great for picnic) to go near Battleship Rock so many people block the road (with hazard flashers on in a curve) to take pictures rather than pay to park. We were...  more »

  • Beautiful day picnic area in the Jemez mountains. Up by Hummingbird Camp and Camp Shaver. Plenty of bathrooms, and picnic tables. Places to grill a well. A small trail leads to a beautiful little waterfall. Only about a 5-10 minute hike. Fun day trip!
  • Loved it. Interesting formation right off the road. Parking may be tight depending on when you go. If you’re going anywhere along this road, pull over, take a look, and grab a pic!
  • This is a beautiful spot! The only drawback we experienced is: if you're looking for the springs, be ready for a 5+ mile hike round trip. We were told it was a mile and a half, it's absolutely not. Other little tid bit, there are guppies in the water that nibble on you, if you're not okay with that, maybe just stick to the trail or hang out by the stream.
  • Great hike! Poor service. Got there early; place filled up fast. Weird conflict: The USDA website shows no fees to use this site. The camp hosts are rude. They said that my disabled veteran Park pass would not cover admission. This is wrong since other Parks are free. They said the pass would "be half price, $2.50." Full price is $5. I didn't want to cause an issue, figured I'd report it later and find out what was going on. We paid and the guy practically snatched the fee envelope from my hand! They gave us directions to picnic sites. We asked for directions to the hiking trails and they acted surprised. Older couple that are not thrilled with their job! Maybe a less active camp ground would suit their temperaments. The trail was moderate. Part of it was along the Jemez creek. Lots of wonderful dogs!
  • Great place to start a hike! Wonderful trailhead ample parking. Adequate restrooms
