  • What a neat little gem here in the small town of Jefferson! There is a lot of history in this town, and a lot of Civil War history. We really enjoyed browsing through the 2 stories of artifacts. The other 2 stories were closed for renovations. They are also putting in an elevator. Lots of history about the earlier settlers of the town. Many of these families donated family belongings to the museum. It was in the Federal Courthouse and post office building built in 1888. Outside, in the back of the museum, is a building built especially for an inherited model railroad, HO scale, layout. They inherited this layout from the R.D. Moses family from Fort Worth. They had to hire a company to dismantle it to relocate it to Jefferson. It had to be in storage until they completed the building. That was very interesting. This is a "must see" when you visit this quaint, historic, beautiful little town of Jefferson!!
  • Excellent! The staff is very knowledgeable. My son is interviewing townsfolk for a documentary on Jefferson. The history and items in the museum is phenomenal. I recommend anyone that comes to town should come by here.
  • Very good museum. Everything has been donated and some of the items are so interesting. But included in the admission is the train museum. Now that was something to see. Donated by a gentleman who handmade the town that the trains run thru. Vets get in free as a thank you for their service!
  • Great little museum. Gave it 4 stars because the top floor & basement were closed due to installation of an elevator. Even so there was lots to see & provided an informative preview to visiting Jefferson.
  • Very quaint museum. Helpful and informative staff.
