For seven generations the Wright family has called coastal Currituck County home. Much has changed since original settler Jacob Wright shipwrecked on the shores of Duck, NC, but the family stills honors the farming tradition established hundreds of years ago. Sanctuary Vineyards is the product of centuries of farming experience and dedication to a dream producing world-class wines in Currituck County.

  • On our way to Kitty Hawk we stopped by the winery. It was a pleasant surprise. Dry and sweet wines were available. Friendly staff and great customer service!
  • Christmas Eve on my way to OBX and do bf this entirely by accident. What a nice stop! Wide selection of wines to try, and good evidence that there is much more to Southern wine than Muscadine. The kin...  more »
  • Visited while visiting Nags Head in October. Tasted a few wines and bought some for gifts. Wines are good and not extremely expensive. Will stop by again when in the area.

  • The event today for the crab daddy festival was completely saved by the chef who gave us a second wine tasting. He was very charming and informative on what food we should pair the wines with. He inspired my friend and I to buy a case. However the outside wine tasters were deblorable. They made us feel incredibly awkward. We had to stare at them and ask them awkwardly for the next wine to sample. There is wine tasting etiquette that they just weren't aware of. We were only going to bug 2 bottles because the ones they had were not the correct temperature and the people were plain AWKWARD. The chef covering tastings legit saved us and inspired us to buy a case.
  • I loved the atmosphere and the wines were really good. I bought the Chardonnay 2015, very favorable. There was live music, reggae sound, they were absolutely AMAZING but I didn't catch the name of the band and when asked they really couldn't tell me for sure, thats a shame because they were great. Other than that it was a great experience and I recommend the wine. Very good.
  • Excellent selection of wine with jovial atmosphere and great service. 5/5, Wine sampling. Sampled all 14 wines, from dry to sweet. 4/5, Selection of wine. Not a wine snob, but guaranteed excellent selection of dry and sweet, with my favorite being a sweet wine called "the Plank". 5/5, Service. The bar tenders Craig and Elton were exceptional. Not typically concerned with customer service, but their personal interest in each customer was outstanding. The in-depth knowledge of their wines down to every fine detail was great to listen to as I sampled them. 5/5, Overall. Outstanding experience with great selection of wine and customer service. Definitely will make a return here in the future.
  • They have a few good wines if you are a red fan and tons if you are a sweet fan. Cute atsomphere and a nice shopping area.
  • Good wines. Karen assisted us in our tastings and was very pleasant to talk with. If you like a sweet wine please taste "Walk The Plank". Very different.
