  • I have never heard of anything like this so I had to come see it while we were in burkesville. This is definitely worth stopping in for, you see all the stages of the fish. The exhibits inside are really neat and full of fun facts. And you can even fish in the river there, just make sure you have the proper gear and license. And the view of the dam is breathtaking.
  • Fun place to visit for folks of any age. Admission is free! Watch an 8 minute video that introduces the viewer to Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery. Walk through the visitors center fish exhibits of 3- 800 gallon aquariums. Look up and you will see a large variety of local animals preserved in a lifelike environment such as deer, fox, opposum, squirels, raccoons and more. Moving deeper into the center, enjoy the reptile exhibits with snakes, turtle and frogs. Leaving the visitors center you can walk across to the hatchery building where trout eggs are hatched into sac fry. You will may see fish at each stage of their life. Leaving the hatchery building, you walk into the raceways that hold fingerling sized trout through adult sized with some reach more than 12 inches. Wolf Creek may have as many as 1.8 million fish on site at any one time. Just behind the raceways, is the new Hatchery Creek that is stocked with trout every other day. Fishermen may catch and keep up to 5 trout when fishing in Upper Hatchery Creek. The Lower Hatchery Creek is for catch and release only.
  • This location has an education center that provides more information about the hatchery and aquarium-style tanks with fish for young kids to identify. The center also has an active honey bee hive. Wolf Creek also has a gift shop and you can feed the fish outside as well. All of the trout stocked in Kentucky comes from Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery.
  • Having a wonderful time! :)
  • Very well done.
