  • We did the factory tour today and it was really fun. For $5, you get a tour of the factory with some history on Sweet Pete's and the building. The best part is the custom chocolate bar you receive at the end of the tour! The staff here is SOOO nice and friendly. And the candy we purchased (the candies made on-site) were delicious!! A truly fun place to visit.
  • Top notch! Place is crazy cool and clean. So many different variations of candies and chocolates and such. Has 3 stories and you can even see them making some of the sweet! And it was delicious! Woopwoop!
  • A magical venue for special occasions, or relaxing at the end of a work day. The food is fresh, and tasty with a Southern gourmet appeal. Shrimp and Grits to Angus Beef Burger- there is something for everyone. Even a satisfying kids menu. The wait staff do everything to make the visit pleasant.
  • Awesome Candy Shop We visited this place because we saw it in the Profit. The shop is very cool, three levels with kitchens and various sales floors. We saw Sweet Pete himself sitting back in his office. The decorations and building remind me a little of Willy Wonka. The staff was extremely nice and talked to us at length. Very nice people and some free samples. You can tell they enjoy working there. However, I was disappointed that so many of the candy items are either nationally manufactured brands (Mike 'n' Ike) or not made by Sweet Pete's. In fact, only a small number of items appear to be made by Sweet Pete's at this location. I expected the full Wonka experience and was disappointed to see that they make less of there own candies than many small local chocolate shops. Additionally, the prices are astronomical for everything. Worse than tourist trap areas pricing. In fact, they charge more per pound for chocolates than the little shops in Old Town St Augustine. We tried the Sea Salt Caramels ($19.90/lb) - they are fantastic. I would say that is their signature item. We also tried the Sea Salt Caramel Popcorn ($8.50 for a 4" x 4" plastic cube). That was a let down and frankly not as good as store caramel popcorn. My wife and daughter tried a Chocolate Caramel dipped Pretzel ($1.25/ea) and they said they were very good, but the pretzel was a little stale. Check it out. It's cool, but temper your homemade candy expectations. PS - Street parking is about a $1/hr and was readily available when we visited on a Monday.
  • Our school took a field trip here and this place was amazing! You can tell the employees love their jobs! The kids had a great time, they got to make lollipops and see how candy is made. The store is right out of a fairy tale, the chocolate is delicious and the price is exactly what you would expect.

Where to stay in Jacksonville

Accommodations are spread out across Jacksonville and mainly consist of large hotels. For a more scenic stay, consider a hotel on the riverfront or the coast. Beachside accommodations provide the added benefit of being in a much quieter and slower-paced part of the city, but you are farther away from the majority of the city's cultural attractions. If you are planning a longer stay, consider a vacation rental with a kitchen to help ease food costs. These rentals are frequently located in residential neighborhoods.
