  • Plenty of land for your pets to roam. A big pond to splash in or sand pile to dig in. Special area for small pets who don't want to run with the big dogs.  more »

  • Be very careful here; safety is in the owners hands; not others. I have seen dog fights at this park and I have seen dogs stressed at this park. If you have sporting dog (like a labrador or spaniel); ...  more »

  • Overall a nice park. There are walking areas and lights around, but many were burnt out when we went past sunset. We to our little dogs into the bigger areas but a large wet dog kept smacking his side into me... The owner did nothing so we couldn't really enjoy that part of the park. Our dogs loved it. Most owners were polite. Many did not know how to use the small fence transition area to leash and unleash their dogs. This can cause problems. I hope the staff give better instructions and educate the customers‚Äčon how to do this properly. I'd hate to see a dog hurt from leash aggression.
  • I have been a member for 7 years. I usually only go to the park in the morning on weekdays because my dog is getting older and she doesn't like the crowds. The owners changed a few years ago and it hasn't been for the better all the time. Due to all the rain right now the grass is knee high and I lose my 16lb rat terrier pretty easily. The park is great for socializing (both dog and human) but you can always bet there is something going on. The fences need to be replaced, they need to distribute the rain water better, the parking lot is never easy to drive over, the woods are not usable for about 2 months out of the year due to mayflies. The pond in the back is nice in summer months for dogs to relax and cool off though. I haven't dealt with the staff in the office for a while but when I did give my dogs bathes they were very helpful. Memberships are expensive but if you get one of their specials you are saving some money.
  • We've been a few times with our dog and he's loved every trip! There is a place for EVERY dog activity you'd ever need (running, obstacles, digging, swimming, nature walks, etc.) My girlfriend and I will definitely be purchasing a membership after our 3rd visit today! It really is a wonderful place to see a bunch of happy playful dogs with plenty of room to give your dog a break if they get tired or are new to social interaction.
  • Dogwood Park is amazing!!! The entire facility is fenced off which is perfect for our dog to run wild. The staff is extremely friendly and introduced me to the vast amount of amenities that the park offers. This park is all inclusive, they even have stations to wash your dogs or give him or her a nice cold treat after a fun filled day through the several sections the park provides. They have a "nature" course filled with trails which is unlike other parks that I have been to. Attempting to get my dog through many of the obstacles all over was a learning experience for him, but enabled me to teach him new things. Make sure you do have your dogs paperwork with up to date shot information (I didn't think about it the first time I went and had to come back) and a towel for your car will be handy.
  • I usually don't bother with writing negative reviews, but I wanted to save some of you the trouble and potential vet visits. We have been paying a monthly membership for a year but after the hurricane revealed that the entire park seems to have been built on a landfill, I will never take my dog back here. There is broken glass and trash just under the surface (or on the surface) everywhere there is dirt, especially in the trails. My dog cut one of his pads which took forever to heal due to its location and the depth of the cut. The pond gets more and more disgusting every time I go and was the cause of a skin infection that took a month to get rid of on my dog and another vet visit/special shampoo/etc. Basically I kept going here because there is no other dog park that is good in Jacksonville, but I can no longer justify bring my dog here and will just work harder at keeping him entertained.

Where to stay in Jacksonville

Accommodations are spread out across Jacksonville and mainly consist of large hotels. For a more scenic stay, consider a hotel on the riverfront or the coast. Beachside accommodations provide the added benefit of being in a much quieter and slower-paced part of the city, but you are farther away from the majority of the city's cultural attractions. If you are planning a longer stay, consider a vacation rental with a kitchen to help ease food costs. These rentals are frequently located in residential neighborhoods.
