  • I visited on a quiet afternoon. The museum had a variety of exhibits: jewelry, china, and art. The gift shop had many nice items for sale.  more »
  • Museum of art that's worth the trip for those who love cultural tour, for those who don't like it, it's worth stopping by to enjoy your garden, bel on the riverbank. Tuesday to Sunday from 10 to 16, admission is $10 per person.

  • Would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the rude employees. The exhibits are great, but the customer service level was terrible. I was told at the entrance that photos were not allowed in the Islam exhibit. As we walked through the exhibit, I had a security guard practically accost me to tell not to take photos. No camera or phone in my hand, I'm not sure what her deal was. Then in the kids area, a customer service employee spent 10 minutes chatting with a parent of a kid from the kids camp- while I stood there waiting for help with the printer. Every once in a while she would look over and say " I'll be with you in a minute", and then go right back to chatting. After a while, I guess she got tired of me standing there and she finally helped us. Not impressed.
  • This museum was fantastic. The exhibits provided a wide variety of interest for most any palette. The extensive gardens were an absolute must see! Their current Islamic textiles exhibit was fascinating along with the history that was provided.
  • Beautiful exhibits featuring original art work (paintings and sculptures) and a variety of gardens over looking the St. John's River. Nice cafeteria for snacking, good gift shop for a variety of occasions. Even has a separate interactive discovery area for kids separated from the rest of the main exhibits. Parking is convenient in a part of town where parking is usually tough to find.
  • I enjoyed my visit to the Cummer museum so much that I can't wait to go back and take some other art-enthusiast friends along. The art was very good with a few pieces so exceptional that, even after a month, I think of them everyday. The café/lunch was excellent and I could easily spend the whole day there in the gardens.
  • Museum had some very nice paintings and sculptures , but the gardens out back on the river were phenomenal. Free first Saturday of month and Sundays with bank of America card. Still worth admittance fee. Next time I go, I'll bring lunch and sit in the gardens.

Where to stay in Jacksonville

Accommodations are spread out across Jacksonville and mainly consist of large hotels. For a more scenic stay, consider a hotel on the riverfront or the coast. Beachside accommodations provide the added benefit of being in a much quieter and slower-paced part of the city, but you are farther away from the majority of the city's cultural attractions. If you are planning a longer stay, consider a vacation rental with a kitchen to help ease food costs. These rentals are frequently located in residential neighborhoods.
