Big Talbot Island State Park, Jacksonville

(4.6/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
The 8 km (5 mi) long beach at Big Talbot Island State Park offers opportunities for swimming, surfing, shelling, kayaking, and fishing. Located on a Florida barrier island, the park supports a variety of natural habitats, from sandy dunes to forests and marshes. While hiking or biking on the trails, you can stop by a picnic pavilion to have a snack. Camping is available, and you can reserve a spot up to 11 months in advance. The park has a limited number of canoes, kayaks, and bicycles for rent. Be cautious in the water, because the beach has no lifeguards and the currents can be strong. • The last of the barrier islands along the East Coast. Five miles of untouched beach and a 2 mile hiking trail through the oldest section of the island that has since become a hardwood hammock forest. Lots of great wildlife and a beach unlike any other in Florida. The rangers are always very nice and helpful with any questions, and the ranger programs are free every week and open to people of all ages and very informative and educational. Be sure to check out the taxidermy collection in the ranger station and the campground across the street from the main entrance!
  • It is quiet and beautiful. This place is well kept and pretty much unspoiled beach. This is a place where you can bring your guest and be proud of. We took our guests from Maryland last July and they love this place that they wanna come back again. The kids did not wanna get off the water. This is one of Jacksonville best kept secret beach.
  • Beautiful Clean Beach and Park has Camping, Good Amenities, Lots of Activities for everyone Biking, hiking, fishing, kayaking, sailing, canoeing and beach. Explore islands on foot or bike. Several venues to rent bikes so you don't have to trailer your own. Sufficient parking at Parks and Trail heads in the area. Convenient to shopping Grocery stores. Close to Beautiful Amelia Island and all they have to offer visitors. I plan to visit this Beautiful Place every year. I Give Little Talbot Island A + Rating.
  • The State Park beach in northeast Florida. Unspoiled natural beach! Unfortunately not to many of these beaches around. Everyone should have the experience of a beach like this in their lifetime!
  • Beautiful secluded island! I love that it is off the beaten path and is not overcrowded. I never have to fight for a parking spot. The fresh water wash stations are the best. It costs $5 a car but totally worth it.
