  • After touring around Jacksonville and trying different breweries around the city we came to Aardwolf Brewing Company. Excited to see what they had, the only option for beer was to look on the wall, away from the bar, at the beer names. Underneath each beer name was the type of beer. However, unless you are truly a beer connoisseur, you really have to know what each beer type is and tastes like. The bartenders were not very friendly or very helpful in helping you understand what the beers were or giving you suggestions based on your taste. Both bartenders suggested we just look up at the wall. We asked the bartender what he suggested, and he just directed us towards the center list of beers on a wall a distance away. How inconvenient for the customer to have to leave the bar, and go stand and stare at a list of beers on the wall near where other people are sitting and enjoying their beers to try to figure out what beer he or she would enjoy. As a customer we had to use untappd to investigate their beers. I suggest having a description of beers or paper menu to look at in front of you.We did not even care to try the beers after the distasteful service, that was by far the worst service we've ever had.
  • Went here on Thursday night and it was busy but not full. Large selection and good variety of craft beer brewed on premises. No food, but there's often a food truck parked out back. Dog-friendly. Order at the bar. Flights are available (4 beers, each 4 oz. for $8). My friend tried the oud bruin (sour brown ale) and it was way to acetic, almost like balsamic vinegar. The bartender told him it was "really tart." Most beers were quite good.
  • Everyone worth meeting is at Aardwolf. I met my wife here. She reconnected with a high school friend who also met her husband here. I ran into a fraternity brother 900 miles from home here. They have a very wide selection of beers and they are all very flavorful and well brewed. The bartenders are our favorite and we know them all by name. It tops our list for places to visit in Jacksonville.
  • Don't listen to the negative comments in some of the reviews on here about the lack of atmosphere and customer service. The bartenders at Aardowolf are some of the nicest, sweetest and easy-going folks you'll come across and they are NOT "beer snobs" as some have accused them of being. My fiance and our friends meet at Aardwolf every week in the middle of the week in the evening for a weekly reprieve from the craziness of life and always have a great time enjoying conversation, atmosphere and delicious home brews. Their beer is always some of the freshest tasting beer I've ever had the pleasure of imbibing. If you KINDLY go to order and explain that you are unaware of what a certain kind of beer is, they will be more than happy to explain to you what it is and what to expect without any snobbery or judgment, so pay no mind to people who claim otherwise. We are having our wedding reception there in May and Natalie has been absolutely wonderful helping us out with the reservation and the details. Aardwolf is a wonderful local spot. One of Jax's finest!
  • Always very friendly staff, excellent beer & service, the pups are always welcome. Try the White Russian Rum Barrel aged. Amazing.

Where to stay in Jacksonville

Accommodations are spread out across Jacksonville and mainly consist of large hotels. For a more scenic stay, consider a hotel on the riverfront or the coast. Beachside accommodations provide the added benefit of being in a much quieter and slower-paced part of the city, but you are farther away from the majority of the city's cultural attractions. If you are planning a longer stay, consider a vacation rental with a kitchen to help ease food costs. These rentals are frequently located in residential neighborhoods.
