We went on Sunday over Labor Day 2021. Sundays open 1-4 pm fyi. We stopped for lunch at the Catfish King 1417 E Rusk St in Jacksonville, (get the catfish special for $8.95) then it's just 15... more »
Had a great time. We went around noon on a hot 95 degree day in September. There were tons of animals and they all walked up to the window for food. Most of the safari drive was in the shade... more »
It was a big land and we enjoyed seeing the scenery and it’s relaxing to watch animal so carefree. We saw camels, zebras, deers (diffident kind), water Buffalo, Highland cow, and more. It’s amusing... more »
A fun place to take kids to feed the animals as you drive through. There is a way to buy extra bags of food and re-enter the drive-through after the first go-round. Some of the animals will readily stick their heads through the vehicle windows. Buy an extra bag or two of food if you want plenty to feed all the critters. Still easy to run out if you get too generous early on.
My wife and I were skeptical of the Safari before we went, now both my family and I can not wait until we can return. All the animals were friendly and would come up to the car and eat. The camel, Rupert, is definitely a known celebrity for his tendency to steal the bag of food from your lap. The gift shop is very reasonably priced and has something for everyone. Bring baby wipes to wipe your hands off, and ensure that you use the bathroom before you leave for your adventure. The staff was kind and knowledgeable. I feel in love with both the zebras and the highland cattle!!!
My husband and I went for my birthday and my goodness I cannot day enough good things about about our experience. The gentleman we spoke with when checking in was very knowledgeable and super friendly. This was the best experience interacting with the animals and feeding them. The whole place is very clean and well maintained. We will definitely be coming back. Just next time we need more food Rufus the camel decided to reach in and help himself to the food. If you haven’t been before this is a must!!!
My family and I (6 of us, total, including two children) were pleasantly surprised at how fun and engaging the Cherokee Trace Safari was. They have lots of exotic animals that will come right up to your car (and sometimes even stick their heads INTO it) to beg for snacks (provided, extra available for a reasonable price.) Though the gift shop items are overpriced, IMHO, the staff are friendly and helpful and the bathrooms are clean and neat. 5/5 would recommend for families!
Absolutely brilliant a must visit if you enjoy interacting with animals. Hands on, hilarious experience. Buy extra food to really enjoy. Allocate 1.30 hours minimum. Staff was super friendly. Watch out for fire ants in car park.
