  • The ballrooms in the campus Union are excellent facilities to hold meetings and accommodate large groups. Parking however is problematic at this building.
  • Our experience at Jackson State University was wonderful. I look forward to coming back again. The staff and current students were warm and welcoming to us and our daughter. I think she will do well h...  read more »

  • There is favoritism at all levels. It seems faculty could get recruited without even proper interviews, just because they are known to the administrators. The worst part is these faculty are assigned to teach courses that it seems they would not have even taken themselves during their studies. I am saying this because I am currently taking some Computer Science classes and it seems the faculty teaching these classes do not know a bit of what they are talking about.
  • JSU isn't the worst school ever in my opinion. However the financial aid departments and admissions departments are pretty disorganized and some of the employees in these areas come off as non chalant, cold and rude. Iv gone two JSU two semesters so far and I didn't really just enjoy either one of them. My second semester I had pretty great instructors my first however I did not. I don't think I'd recommend this school to anyone but I'm not putting down on it because I did have okay experiences there. I have transferred out now. I would advise doing enrollment, registration, seeing your department advisor as early as possible. Also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE stay on top of your financial aid. If you have documents you need to turn in for financial aid purposes do them ASAP and be extremely detailed... Trust me. Also follow your course catalog for your major, pay very close attention to it. Some of the academic advisors there are clueless, recklessvand just plain old don't care. So for your own good keep up with it yourself. Not all the academic advisors are this way but you never know better safe than sorry. And lastly probably would be best to try to get involved, it'll make your time at JSU better. Good luck new comers!
  • The non-teaching staff (like department secretaries) are very biased and are helpful to only selected people. One needs a lot of patience and thick skin (to tolerate the harsh treatment) to go through the paperwork for even simpler things. The secretaries easily mess up things and cover it up and put the blame on somebody else. There is no fairness in rewarding credit to deserving people.
  • I love jackson ...i like the students and the band but u see the admissions dept ..they're horrible . I was denied two things because they didnt change my major after the 2nd time when one person said it was and another said they couldnt ! They dont answer the phone ! Amd they give you the run around .
  • Bruh Walter Payton made this place lit. But it's still lowkey trash.
