Buttermilk Falls State Park, Ithaca

(4.3/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Admire an extensive series of cascades at Buttermilk Falls State Park, where you have a range of opportunities for hiking and enjoying the area's lush nature. Though named for the largest of its waterfalls, the park features nine others of varying size and length. Visit the park and hit the trail to view these falls, accessible via a network of hiking paths that give you clear views of the waterways. Follow these trails, which range from 1.2 km (0.75 mi) to 2.4 km (1.5 mi), down through the valley and alongside the falls themselves. Keep in mind that while the trails are relatively short, they vary in difficulty and can be quite intense, so be sure to outfit yourself with some comfortable hiking shoes.
