  • Beautiful park with so many activities for kids. We enjoyed the new play area, sand box, beach, picnic area and green fields. You can easily spend all day here. Lots to do.  more »

  • Sunset beach has reopened! Great place to walk the dog. If the weather has been good, there are surprising lengths of walking trails following the river and winding through wooded and grassy areas. If there was any rain the past few days, these walks become very muddy with some deep puddles (past ankle depth!) But there as still lots of paved walkways to use in the main park areas. There are lots of bathrooms at the beach areas and the new playground looks amazing and is always very crowded. The smaller play areas are usually empty now. Ample parking. So much wildlife!
  • This state park is less than a mile away from where we stay, which lets us visit the park frequently. There is a small little beach with designated swimming area. You can rent kayaks, paddle board at reasonable prices and is great for the first timers. If you are looking for a day to spend, this is a good place consider.
  • Participated in the Wanderlust 108 5k etc. there and had a great time. A great 5k course, and a cool park for kids. The lake is awesome in that spot because you feel far from urban life even though you are still in it. Plenty of parking--discovery pass!
  • This place is one of our favorite parks for the kids. Excellent variety and quality of playground equipment, I think this is the best playground we've ever seen. Beautiful views of the lake! Looking forward to the new beach this summer. Parents, beware of the swampy area past the bathrooms for the little ones! Also, stick to the concrete paths as there is quite a bit of duck / goose droppings throughout the lawn areas and it gets stuck in your shoes.
  • Free parking no longer exits. Not as may trails as there use to be. It's all open grounds. And the trails that do exist creep me out a little. Buddy system is highly suggested. Perhaps some bear pepper spray as well. It's well maintained. If there is no attendant at the booth you literately have to turn around and go else where. Or you're at the risk for a parking ticket. School buses will routinely take up most of the parking lots and limit how you can get around. A bit of a maze to drive out again.
