  • Been coming here for 23 years. Used to be nice. Now just over crowded park that is not open nearly enough due to the fact that CCPRC never petitions the IOP government to expand hours of operation...

  • I love this beach! It's always clean and usually not too crowded. There are some good restaurants along the beach with great views. There are always great photo opportunities. The best part is your dog is allowed(on/off leash hours).
  • had a great time! has showers, restrooms, umbrella/beach chair rentals, and a beach supplies store (with items such as hats, boogie boards, and sunglasses). it was pretty crowded, but we got there around 9:30 and were able to have enough room. the tide also moves out a lot by midday and we were able to see lots of starfish. the water was pretty calm and comfortably warm. the sand was very flat. if you went into the ocean, it was about the same depth of water for a long distance (about ankle to mid lower leg on me). there were several lifeguards on duty and they have first aid kits with them. and there were lots of good picture spots for you. overall, a great experience!
  • Our second trip to this wonderful beach. Parking is $5 per car and you have to leave before the sun sets because they close the gate. Don't be late. Lol. A little park is right before the entrance to the beach as well as changing stations. Can't wait for summer
  • Great place. We went with family while on vacation on a weekday afternoon when local kids were in school. Price was $15 as opposed to 20 on weekends. The bathrooms at the beach house were located above it and below you could rent umbrellas and order food etc. If you could find room sometimes there was space under the pier to put chairs if you didn't have an umbrella or shade with you. Place also has changing rooms, a station to shower body and feet, and even misting stations to cool down. Some shells, but is busy place and distance from water to stairs is not much, so everyone is in pretty tight. Police were present too, so it felt pretty safe overall. Great place for kids and families.
  • We visited Isle of Palms last year on a whim and we were so pleased with the day trip from Columbia that we came back for our vacation this year. The parking is reasonable. If you park in the Isle of Palm parking lot, you must leave by 8pm. They close access to the beach, bathrooms, and lot. There are other ways to get to the beach but if you plan to leave from there, watch your time. You can park on the street in certain places as well. These spots use a pay meter service. It's pretty easy to understand. You'd pay up to 8pm, but if you're still there after 8, you don't have to pay. The IOP park offers bathrooms, misters, spray/showers, changing rooms, and a playground. They also have a vendor that sells small snacks, drinks, items, and rents chairs and umbrellas. Just remember that it will shut down at 8pm. The beach itself isn't necessarily great for shelling, but it is beautiful and you have plenty of area's to chose to sit. I like that the waves aren't overly crazy so I feel comfortable with my 6 year old playing in them without a hand when its high tide. When it's low tide, you have to go out farther to get into the waves and the breaks seem to be higher and more powerful. If you sit up near the park entrance you also have the benefit of Lifeguards on duty. They will pack up and leave after clearing the water if there is severe weather. They come back when it's clear. Plenty of restaurants and shops are within walking distance.
