  • Visit the ocean entry began to hear. Go to the parking lot, and 2-3 rental bike shop Mr. and rent out at $ 10 per hour. Walk away from the sight the ocean entry and one way 2 hours bike is 40 minutes. To pedaling a bicycle trail is not paved, it was never a problem. Arrive at your destination and had lots of spectators. I realized in lava flows into the sea and the Earth is alive. Go if you still see the Red lava of from evening to evening, it is recommended.

  • We had a few options to see the lava flowing into the sea--helicopter, boat, hike--but decided to rent bikes since it was 8 mikes round trip. We were told the road was easy from the Kalapana side. I a...  read more »
  • See flowing into the ocean lava, is an amazing experience. It's hard to describe with words, you have to see for yourself. The suggestion is to get there before sunset, buy decent shoes, bike rental and a flashlight ($ 10 per hour) and prepare for about 5 nautical-mile ride in the gravel road to the place where lava meets the ocean and the same back. The entire expedition may last for 2-3 hours at a moderate pace of cycling.

  • Exciting place to visit, if you want to see the lava flow! We walked from the parking area around 4.4 miles in for a total all 8.8 miles. Actually you can rent bikes for an easier trip to get there. Don't forget to bring a lot of water and some snacks.
  • Go either before the sun rises, or right before sunset. It is nasty hot during the day. 9.4 mile hike roundtrip.
  • Spectacular views of the ocean and the lava flow. It was a long hike on gravel that will tire out your legs, but worth it. If you can rent a bike, it makes the trip easier. Be courteous of eyes in the dark and keep your flashlight pointed low to the ground.
  • Just too good. You can see land being made!
  • Amazing! Incredible!
