  • The Center had unfortunately closed so we headed to the small trail to explore. You can see some things from the past of Hawaii's. On billboards, you can learn many interesting things about the life of Hawaiians. Bathing is difficult - the waves are very high. For the place is excellent to watch whales.

  • Lapakahi State Historical Park sign you will see on the left of the points that go toward the North coastline of comfort road (akoni pull Highway), and coming soon to Havi. Was burning only one car for visitors going to the parking lot, the car and finished the tour and go home. To petty straw, trees swaying in the sea breeze is a restoration but Shack if it sees from eyes of humans, and restore the ruins of the people of Hawaii and walks around the Park no one lived in the distant past, but I was overwhelmed. I felt enjoy Omni slowly look around at the beach when the wave is going nowhere and is not that great, but the sound of the waves and the sound of the wind sound like pale, b a big island of Hawaii. However, it was also of a few cars parked in the taxiway leading there is another day once again stopped in the evening but 16:00 for DimDim already closed, could not be admitted to the parking lot. Went here because it was nearing that time just sinking sunset we also have South akoni pull Highway, on the right side. That are on tour to your sunset, sunset was a little on the horizon from light the way to sea level, straight up front followed by per call with a superb roof terrace was dyed Orange whole. Is slowly sinking, but before I knew it will sink on the horizon, and he had that spectacular events between the moment it felt was a spectacular sight. From taxiway to spare the memory closest to the road car, finished the fleeting nature of the contact.

  • This is an incredible historic park that has maintained a 700 year old village and done their best to show what life was like for early Hawaiian settlers. There are about 20 different points along the...  more »

  • Lapakahi State Historical Park is a large area of ruins from an Ancient Hawaiian fishing village in the North Kohala District on the Big Island of Hawaii. Offshore is the Lapakahi Marine Life Conservation District. Lapakahi State Historical Park is a most to see and learn more about the history of Hawaii. Take a one mile, self-guided tour of this 262-acre park and see restored hale (houses) and lava stone walls, then play traditional Hawaiian games and learn more about life in early Hawaii. The park’s rocky shoreline also faces the Lapakahi Marine Life Conservation District although swimming is not encouraged. Because the Kohala Coast can get hot, the best time of day to visit is in the morning or later in the afternoon. The name lapa kahi means "single ridge" in the Hawaiian Language, and applied to the ahupuaʻa, an ancient land division that ran from the sea up to Kohala Mountain. Historical park on the site of a 600-year old traditional fishing village. Great for picture taking, hikes, education and learning, sight seeing.
  • The historic village is nice to explore....interesting to learn about how people were living some 600 yrs ago on the big island...Snorkeling at its best but entering the water can be a challenge for some...be carefull and enjoy...
  • A must to walk through. So much history. Wonderful place.
  • This place is awesome. Hawaiian culture preserved. Those who state this is not a must see, please continue on to scenic vistas, luau, and zip lining. Mahalo to the State of Hawaii for preserving this Hawaiian fishing village so I can show my keiki and mo'opuna their heritage.
  • Great place for views photos and hiking.
