  • This road length of somewhere around 37 km at the end of which the Sea Arch Holei (high arch in the rock by the water), the road will be Thurston Lava Tube-lava cave and a small track at Pu'u Loa petroglyphs (2 km by road). Ends it does not flow of lava, the hot lava flow and need to go about 6-7 km. one way to a gravel road. And so the lava of many on both sides.

  • Currently (28.09.2016) there are two ways to watch the flow of lava in sea of the country: chain of craters road: just drive until the end of the road and the car park. This is followed by a long walk (about 7-8 km) up to the point of the lava in it sea. The first section takes over road/gravel, then a "old" lava field must be crossed however (about 1.5-2 km). Kalapana: On the Highway 11 towards Hilo and at Keeau turn on the 130. Drive until the end of the road and turn off the car. Also here pending a longer walk (4 miles are specified). This leads over a gravel road. Bikes can be rented here, if you prefer are on the wheel. At the end of the path, one must go about 200-300 meters on the lava field towards the sea to sea to see the entrance of the lava in it. Both versions cost no (apart from the entrance to the National Park via chain of craters road) entrance. Rather, I would recommend the way via Kalapana as the gravel road is flatter and less dependent on my feeling. If you go at night: be sure to bring a good flashlight. On the lava fields, you can see little at night!
