Anne's Beach, Islamorada

3.0
#1 of 8 in Parks in Islamorada
Dedicated to local environmentalist Anne Eaton, Anne's Beach features a shallow swimming area along a shore lined with mangroves. Try your hand at kiteboarding, or snorkel to look for octopuses. When you're done, walk along the boardwalk, which is an elevated, wooden path that leads 0.8 km (0.5 mi) through natural wetlands. Bring a picnic basket and eat in the covered picnic area. Amenities include two parking lots and bathroom facilities. Watch your step to avoid crab holes. • The hurricane drove a lot of sand into Anne's beach, washing away the parking and board walk, and giving the mangrove trees a beating, but the extra fill will eventually make Anne's Beach bigger, so l...  more »
  • Unfortunately this beach is gone with the wind and will hopefully return with the efforts! We were disappointed to see the parking and boat ramp closed. Wishing only the best for the Keys rebuild.  more »
  • You must park down the street and walk in but it’s still a beach... no parking at the beach. Be careful crossing the freeway, to get to the parking spot.  more »

  • That would be correct, since Hurricane Maria, the park has been closed as the storm completely demolished most of the mangroves, the entire boardwalk, and gazebos. I love this beach, I go every year for my dog's birthday but it doesn't look like that will happen this year. The keys were buried under the hurricane and then, the debris and trash that followed. I'm sure the beach needs full restoration including cleaning the surrounding ocean floor for hazardous materials. When I drove by in December on my way to Key West for work, there was still a beached boat there. I think this is a public park funded by the county so not sure when we will see the beach open again =
  • As of 3/14/18 it's got a sign saying its closed, but we parked in the lot across the street and a little west and walked in anyways. Set up a towel on the beach and hungout and waded unmolested for several hours. We saw a few other groups of people pull into the bits of parking normally saved for the beach and come check it out for a few minutes, but we were essentially alone. Saw quite a bit of wildlife. Idyllic piece of beach aside from traffic noise. Would not have been surprised if the cops chased us off though, as I saw them doing so for people 5 min further east at what I think was Sea Oats Beach.
  • Nice beach in Islamorada where you can walk far out into the water before it gets waist deep. There is a little boardwalk that runs parallel to the Atlantic that you can walk along.
  • Very nice place to walk along the beach. There is a lot of iguanas🦎. Bring your own tables chairs and food.
  • I kite here when I'm in the keys. There's not much parking but there showers at the far end and the water is beautiful and shallow. Proper bathrooms with toilet seats and tp as well.
