If your visit falls in season, check the concert schedule. It's a glorious way to spend a summer night. The venue is well designed and managed. Arrive early and walk the canal, take out a paddle boat ...  more »

This review will focus on the Farm Bureau Insurance Lawn, which is the setting for concerts. I have been there twice for concerts, most recently for the Retro Futura concert on August 2. We had Genera...  more »

The Park concentrates a region with several leisure options for the family: Zoo, cinema, museums, stadiums. If you are short on time or no money, the Canal Walk is worth! There is also possible to rent a kayak and paddle boat to enjoy the view in summer.

I love this park. Bring a hammock and enjoy a lazy afternoon/evening. Fun walking & biking trails. The canal is also beautiful. There's even some natural wildlife right here in the city. Saw a family of raccoons one night, so cute! Sometimes there are fun pop-up events.

I've only been there for concerts, and it's a great venue for that. Bring a small chair or blanket (or rent a chair) and some snacks and catch a good show. The acoustics are really good for such an open space.

Great place to take a large group of students to roam free and have a little fun. There are cycles of all shapes and sorts and there are also paddle boats to rent and ride on the canal. Just realize though that if you want to feed a group at this park that it has to be approved in advance and may require a fee.

This is a very cool and very large area. Concerts bring many people here and they sit on the lawn and have a great time. I also enjoy coming here when it's not so packed on a normal sunny day and doing some photography. The views of downtown Indianapolis and it's skyline are great. Walking along the trails to the zoo you also discover cool almost hidden pathways that can make excellent backdrops for pictures too. It's just an overall nice place to hang out for a while, take a date here and walk and talk, and just take in the nice views of the city. Hit up the museum, catch a baseball game, walk the canal, and enjoy the day.

Its a pretty park, with lots of places to hang up hammocks or relax in the shade. There is a nice open field to bring some kind of sport or activity to play. The art there is interesting, and really enhances the general appeal of the place.

Where to stay in Indianapolis

With limited public transportation in the city, those traveling without a car should consider the location of their accommodations carefully. To stay within walking distance of Indianapolis’ best restaurants and bars, look for a hotel or apartment rental in the arty Mass Ave or Broad Ripple neighborhoods. Downtown lodgings are often more expensive, but provide easy access to Indy’s best-known attractions for those on vacation. Bed and breakfasts in the city’s residential areas provide a healthy dose of Midwestern charm.
