Where to stay in Indianapolis

With limited public transportation in the city, those traveling without a car should consider the location of their accommodations carefully. To stay within walking distance of Indianapolis’ best restaurants and bars, look for a hotel or apartment rental in the arty Mass Ave or Broad Ripple neighborhoods. Downtown lodgings are often more expensive, but provide easy access to Indy’s best-known attractions for those on vacation. Bed and breakfasts in the city’s residential areas provide a healthy dose of Midwestern charm.

  • Love the Indy Zoo. During Christmas it is especially neat with the Christmas lights up and more arctic animals awake.  more »
  • So we were here for a sustainability tour, and I can't wait to come back for a visit! The orangutan habitat is AMAZING! They are RIGHT THERE and so curious! Including a baby! I don't usually visit zoo...  more »
  • I was disappointed with what you get for the money. They have several rides/activities but they are not included with admission. If you're looking for a great family trip to the zoo, I would recommend...  more »

  • Great Zoo! Awesome opportunities to see animals. The dolphin show is very worthwhile. The Zoo is easy to get around with strollers, wheelchairs, etc. For the most part, the animals are easy to see in their exhibits, so you will not be disappointed. Moreover the grounds are beautiful to walk through – they have lots of flowers and plants and things. The ocean exhibit is another one you won't want to miss – lots of very cool fish to see. Overall, very friendly staff, fun and worthwhile! 5- stars!
  • I did enjoy my time at the Indianapolis Zoo. It may not be the largest Zoo in the area or even the nicest but it is a great place to hang out and have fun with the family. It's very baby friendly and has a great way to display the animals. None of which look miserable and ill cared for. The staff truly loves the animals here and it shows. I've enjoyed it on multiple occasions. It has a great Dolphin show and a new Orangutan exhibit!
  • This place was a ton of fun! It was clean, there were employees of the zoo near certain exhibits telling stories about particular animal species. Definitely a family friendly place! It seemed very accessible for everyone. There are ways that someone of any ability could see all the exhibits. There is a great variety of animals!
  • First time at Indy Zoo and it was pretty nice. A few more animals than the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. We loved the wild birds that flew over us while we were there . The best part was the Walrus, dolphins and the Orangutans. We got to the zoo at 2pm and was done by 4pm that's because we didn't go on any rides so if anyone plans on going there it will be about 3 hours to go through the whole zoo unless you plan to ride the rides. It's a very well kept zoo and the animals look very cared for they look happy. Overall it was a good experience even though it was a little pricey we still enjoyed it for sure coming back sometimes in the future.
  • We had a great day at the zoo. It always amazes me how quickly the parking lot fills up. The butterfly exhibit was magical and the gardens were beautiful. The zoo was clean in appearance and the staff was friendly. It looks like the construction is done for the most part and the Zoo exit is quite fascinating with the towers and large fireplace. That area could make some nice photoshoots.
