  • I've been there twice already and still loving it. It's a good place to feel nature and get some fresh air. I like the fact that it's not that far from downtown so I could go there whenever I want too...  more »
  • This park is clean with plenty of hiking trails and playground equipment. The renovations that have taken place over the past few years are amazing. My wife and I have gotten family pictures taken her...  more »
  • My super-climber son loves this park. It's a 45-minute drive but well worth it. Beautiful hiking trails and a great educational nature center as well.  more »

  • Best park in the city! Huge open spaces. Plenty of hiking, including access to the White River. Great visitor's center. Plus 3 big playgrounds, one for smaller kids and one sort of for bigger kids. Great place for all your outdoor needs.
  • What a great park! Not too busy, plenty of open spaces and really well-maintained, neat trails. Some of the trails have a lot of steps but the steps are for the most part rock so people of all ages can go up and down without fear of tripping. The boardwalks are particularly nice. There are some neat ruins I have an old building that is kind of the centerpiece of the park. Additionally, the playground place is one of the more expensive I have seen. Very neat – five stars.
  • We just discovered (is it new?) their water feature. My and several friends went and our kids had a blast playing in the fountain. It's not as overwhelming as a splash pad and way less crowded. They can get soaked without you getting soaked and there's plenty of walking trails to dry off on afterwards. We also stopped by the playground and ate lunch before we left. Very beautiful place to spend a summer day.
  • I've always loved Holliday Park! Great playgrounds for the kids (wood mulch ground cover), nature trails, and there's usually good people watching too. Clean indoor restrooms aren't always unlocked but port-a-potties are available. Lots of open spare for kites, picnics, sunny day naps. Closes at dusk.
  • Excellent place for hiking, nature trails, kids' play area, etc. Lots of picnic tables under the shade. Very kid friendly. Easily accessible from the city and is a world away from the bustling city!

Where to stay in Indianapolis

With limited public transportation in the city, those traveling without a car should consider the location of their accommodations carefully. To stay within walking distance of Indianapolis’ best restaurants and bars, look for a hotel or apartment rental in the arty Mass Ave or Broad Ripple neighborhoods. Downtown lodgings are often more expensive, but provide easy access to Indy’s best-known attractions for those on vacation. Bed and breakfasts in the city’s residential areas provide a healthy dose of Midwestern charm.
