Categories: Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.3/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web
The largest wild bird hospital and sanctuary in the United States, Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates injured wild seabirds in hopes of returning them to nature. Spend time up close with the permanently injured birds who reside at the sanctuary full time and take pictures of some of the 600 wild birds that come through. Make sure to bring sunscreen and water, as the sanctuary is mostly outdoors. Be aware that like any place heavily populated by birds, there can be a strong smell. Put Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Indian Shores vacation builder.

  • Had a nice time walking around and visiting all of the birds. Watch out for the buzzards. There were an unusual amount on this visit. Just keep an eye up as you walk around. They seem to enjoy feeding...  read more »
  • It's a walk in off the beach,I visit every year, the volunteers work hard to look after the poorly or injured birds. Will gratefully accept any donation and is interesting for children.
  • I went there after seeing one of the employees taking one of the resident birds out for a walk. I then went inside and saw many of the seabirds that have been rehabilitated when injured. I think it's ...  read more »
  • I don't not appreciate how they handled the bird I turned into them. They grabbed it out of the box and the bird made a noise like it hurt and I did not appreciate being lied to either they said someone comes out every hour to check the birds and I put a dove with a broken wing in one of the cages and came back two hours later and he was still there. So wrong. Every creature has to be cherished and loved.
  • Great place to see a wide variety of birds. The work they are doing is great, someone needs to help those animals. Dirty though. I'm presuming it has to do with budget.
  • I am currently caring for a black skimmer I found on the road during my nightshift..he's in the patrol car with me as it's 2am and I'm just waiting to bring him over. Seems to have a broken wing, that is nearly severed. I am so relieved to know you all are here to care for our beloved seabirds. Thank you. We look forward to coming in later this morning after my shift ends at 8am.
  • Thank you for helping me with the Herring Gull. I thought the bird had a broken wing. Turns out staff knew immediately that bird had been affected by Red Tide. A flush of bird's system and the Gull would be good in a day or so. Third one brought in this week to them. Thank you Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary. You all are the best
  • Love this place. They do a lot of good with the birds. We come because my mother loved it and now were passing that on. Donate donate donate...
