Be sure to see Garden of the Gods and Shades when you visit. Absolutely gorgeous hiking trails, spectacular vistas, and utterly romantic for a couples vacation. Be sure to reserve a camping space early; they fill up very quickly, especially if it's a holiday weekend. There is a cabin rental nearby, in Golconda, if camping is not your thing. It overlooks the Ohio river, with lots of mature trees nearby. A gorgeous spot, especially for an extended vacation close to home.

Visited garden of the gods and let me tell you it was worth the 6 hour drive that it took me to see those breath taking views.
Garden of the Gods is a great place to get away and enjoy the outdoors. The views are great anytime of the day and offers hiking and climbing for all skill levels.
Moved down here because it is one of the most beautiful places in the country! So many sights to see, trails to hike, lakes, streams, rives to fish, rocks to climb, so little time!
