  • This site of Eleanor Roosevelt's cottage and the site of her former Val-Kill Industries is lovely, offering tours as well as trails in the surrounding woods. My time there left me with a strong sense ...  more »
  • Loved seeing all the original furnishings including the furniture built at Valkill. The tours were excellent!!  more »
  • Beautiful home and grounds where the First Lady grew up. Basically it is across the street from FDRs home. The rangers were very nice and tours are available to take.  more »

  • Eleanor is a National Treasure. Walking thru her real house felt like witnessing history. The wide screen porch where she slept whatever the weather... The mementos and photos of course... Today I visited the 65th st (NYC) Roosevelt home and told our guide how I loved the photograph of Eleanor talking to JFK who came to visit her. "Yes," replied the guide..."he went to see her in September to make sure he had her support (probably what we now term a "photo op").
  • Lovely place; strong, excellent life story.
  • If you are in Hyde Park you must visit Val-Kill. It is a historic home and the tour is very well done.
  • Great national park beautiful buildings with very educational tours
  • Inspiring and beautiful grounds
