  • Scenic winding roads lead us to this magnificent multi use state park. We picked up lunch from a deli in the town of Huntington on our way to the park. The forecast called for a pleasant day with show...  more »
  • I walked on the 1.5 mile path to the mansion and saw the fresh water pond. It was ok, but the walk did not have any views of the water.  more »
  • A wonderful state park. Great place for a nice Spring walk. Beautiful view of the Long Island Sound. Nice hike down to the beach. Saw families riding bikes. Couples walking. Perfect place to visit!  more »

  • One of our favorite places to go for a walk! Beautiful park! One complete 'lap' around is approximately 3 miles. The main house is at the halfway point and from there you have a great view of Long Island Sound. On a clear day you can see Connecticut without a problem. There are horse stables. The horses are usually out grazing or exercising. Sometimes you'll see one getting a bath. There are many deer in the park. They usually come out around dusk. Two weeks ago we saw a white deer. (I didn't even know they existed.) Great place to walk or run or ride your bicycle.
  • We came here as a class field trip. The park is beautifully kept. There is so much to see while you are here it would take more than a day to truly enjoy everything it has to offer. The naturalists are super informative and engaging with students. They made walking along the beach super fun and interesting, pointing out critters, different rocks, the characteristics of the beach, the water, etc. I cannot wait to come back here on my own time
  • Lovely little state park! Empire passport works here ($8 parking otherwise). Great bike trails, easy walk to the beach, and plenty of paths/trails/places to explore. Historic landmarks as well - highly recommend!
  • Great NY State nature preserve. Terrific well maintained hiking trails; woods, Meadows, ponds and Long Island Sound. Check out the Osprey nest on the Manor House chimney. Take the south trail down to an unspoiled beautiful LI sound beach. Walk the pond trail for a fresh water wildlife experience. If you are a bike rider very nice paved loop trail. Really a great place to relax, unwind and be with nature in a metropolitan area a of 22 million people. Enjoy the peace and quiet sitting in the walled garden. Try getting to the garden in May when the crab apple trees are in bloom.
  • A hidden gem - great walking and biking road, trails galore, beach access, lots of fields, woods and acreage. Undeveloped, meaning no formal ball fields or picnic areas, but bring a picnic lunch and blanket and enjoy this treasure of a park.
