  • Lots of great history about Fire Fighting and many interactive exhibits. The ladies in the gift shop were sweet and very helpful.  more »

  • Truly a terrible experience. We traveled over an hour to visit this museum with our two year old. As another reviewer said; this is NOT a place for children. Upon entering you watch a terrible video where a monotone firefighter reads from a sheet of paper to the left of a screen for what felt like 20 min basically telling you all the rules. For safety reasons I wasn't allowed to carry my diaper bag (eye roll). Upon entering we realized there really wasn't much of anything our son could do or touch. When we asked for a refund shortly after entering they refused. Don't waste your time with this uptight unfriendly museum unless you are an adult who is truly into fire trucks.
  • I visited this museum and was educated, impressed by the original artifacts and items on display in protective cases to keep "children" from damaging 19/12 Horse pulled apparatus and the Trucks from nearly every era which blew me away. Dont allow a liberal snowflake mothers (Christine Reedy) one personal review discourage you from takng visuals of history before your eyes. This is a museum, not your local playground where your children can purposely run free. Give respect to those who have volunteered 3/4 of their life saving homes and lives from death and destruction. HAVE SOME RESPECT MISS REEDY Read the firemens prayer sometime. If your children do not have your respect and you do not restrict your roamng undisciplined child, and they fall, hit the edge of a trucks platform, cut their head open require suches, who is at fault ? You are. Former Fire member Westhempstead Fire District. This is a place like other museums where we resoect what is offered to the public for viewing, well mannered disciplined children are always welcome. Like any firehouse, disorderly conduct will not be condoned.
  • Awesome collection from colonial days to present. Enjoyed every exhibt. Friendly staff.
  • The staff was very friendly and welcoming. And the collection of fire trucks is amazing. The interactive children's areas were a lot of fun for my 8 year old, and we all enjoyed being set back in time when we entered the replica of an 1800's firehouse.
  • Nice fire museum, Free entrance to firefighters. The gift shop is a little generic but not overly expensive. Be sure to drop something in the donation box on the way out.
