Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose goal is to rehabilitate wild animals and release them back into their native populations. Much of the wildlife that arrives at the sanctuary is the result a direct conflict with humans; such as being hit by cars, attacked by cats/dogs, or being taken away from their parents by well-meaning, but unknowing humans.

Possumwood Acres Wildlife Sanctuary specializes in the rehabilitation, care, and treatment of small mammals, songbirds, waterfowl, raptors, shorebirds, and reptiles.

I have taken a few rescue animals here and they have been very well taken care of. O have also called these guys to come out to pickup some wild life very prompt and caring staff here,

My family and I had the unique opportunity to visit Possumwood Acres as we were making donations and got to see all the residents and rescues being rehabilitated. The staff members were polite and patient telling us all about the process at Possumwood. We enjoyed our visit and were happy to see such a wonderful sanctuary in place for wildlife.

I could not identify the babies that were in our backyard in a 4” hole. Shelby was able to facilitate that answer after viewing the video. They were cotton tails. Welcome to North Carolina! She took the time to explain that they wouldn’t be there very long and there was no need to disturb them, they would leave on their own. I’m so thankful I was able to contact someone so professional/friendly/knowledgeable. Thank you for your response and being there to educate me. Bless your sanctuary and staff.

This place was nice. Lots of cool wildlife. The inside was ok and a bit small. But it was good for the small creatures who needed to be fed and taken care of. I would recommend. The folks that we dealt with were nice and friendly. I'd definitely come a d visit again.

Staff were amazing... Helpful and knowledgeable! Took us around and showed us the whole lot of rescued animals. The Finch we saved is in good hands I'm sure of it

I brought them a wild box turtle that has been around my yard for a couple years. One day I noticed His eyes were shut so I knew he had an infection. These people took very good care of him and kept me updated on his progress when I called to check on him. I even got to pick him up and release back in yard. Thank you for everything you all are doing to care for God's creatures! I encourage everyone to donate to this place and any other like it.
