Cave Nature / Park
Explore the limestone caves at Howe Caverns. The brick walkways, handrails, and elevators make the journey easy. The traditional tour begins at the elevators and ends with a boat ride on the Lake of Venus, an underground body of water. Consider booking an adventure tour to see the undeveloped portion of the cave. You'll be provided with a suit to protect you from the moisture. After the tour, head to the Cave House Museum of Mining & Geology, which is inside a former hotel next door. • All four of us truly enjoyed our visit to Howe Caverns, ages 13 to 78. Our guide, Joe, was very good. The only negative comment I would have is that the tour going in and through to the end was excell...  more »

  • We had an amazing time. Our tour guide was sweet and informative - a great combo! Kids all loved the fun facts and winding way. Only down side... everyone in my family who purchased and ate the candies nuts at the sweet shop after the tour got food poisoning :( not a great way to end our night after a nice day trip.
  • Great place and quick fun for the family. Bring a sweater, during the summer or spring time. The caves will be a constant 52 degrees, year round. Beautiful scenery all around. The food court, wasn't that great, and a bit pricey. Your better off bringing your own food, in a cooler. Howe Caverns sells a cheddar cheese, they age in the caves. It's really good and worth a try. Once again the cheese is a bit pricey, but a good treat.
  • Had a great experience. Line for tour was long but worth the wait. Did not do other activities this time. Age and size limits prevented 4 year old from participating. Looks like we will have to come back next year.
  • Beautiful but you should make up your own mind. By the end of the tour I realized my tour was super lucky. The man who sold us tickets said there might be a chance the water would be too high and the boat ride might not happen. But we bought tickets anyways. 20 mins later we got in line and the same man came to the lime and announced the water would probably be to high and the boat part wouldn't happen. Which we knew was not the tours fault but also is what makes the expensive ticket price reasonable. Lucky because our tour only had 8 people. Lucky because our tour guide took us straight down to the boat so we could beat the rise of the water. But the boat ride does not match what it's hyped up to be. We passed another group with children. So very lucky no children were in our group, nothing against children but when your in an echoing cave, they tend to be very loud. If you really love caves it might be worth it. If not, follow the big signs to the Secret Caverns right up the road. It's way more adventurous but very physical
  • Amazing experience. Fairly priced for the tour. If you wish to get more personal and touch things, check out Secret Caverns down the road.
