  • What a cool experience! I knew nothing about Mammoths. I have lived in California my whole life and had to move to South Dakota just to learn that they have discovered Pygmy Mammoths on the Channel Islands off the coast of California. Who would have guessed? I was very impressed with the self-guided tour we took, it was fascinating. We will be back again this summer and maybe even try to volunteer on one of their dig days.
  • Highly recommend this stop if you're near Mt Rushmore. The excavation exhibit is well worth seeing and learning about. Real bones that have not been taken out. They are not plasters and replicated. The guides were great. We paid extra to let our kids dig on a special site and they had a great time. All the interns are very knowledgeable.
  • We had a great time here. The staff is wonderful. A special hats off to Justin. He took extra time out of his busy day to talk to my son about Geology and helped him with some of three requirements for his Geology merit badge. Thanks again guys......YOU ROCK!!!!
  • Would Definitely recommend seeing this site. It's for all ages, they have some great young guys and gals as there guides and I might add they do an excellent job. I can't say enough about the fun and educational information you will get to see and learn. I highly highly recommend you go see for your self.
  • small place but huge in terms of importance and coolness. Rachel , the smoking hot guide, was great. tour was worth the $10 bucks. Well worth a stop.
