Land of Make Believe & Pirate's Cove, Hope

(3.4/5 based on 300+ reviews on the web)
Offering a variety of rides and water attractions, Land of Make Believe & Pirate's Cove offers activities that are ideal for children younger thanĀ ageĀ 12. First opened in 1954, the amusement park has a long history and is reminiscent of decades past. Try out some of the rides, including the junior-sized roller coaster, Tilt-A-Whirl, merry-go-round, and the Civil War train that loops around the park. If rides aren't your cup of tea, visit the Petting Zoo or take in the interactive Middle Earth Theater, mazes, and hayrides. Water attractions like the Lazy River, wading pool, and waterslides keep you cool. Recently the park installed some more thrilling water rides, such as Pirate's Plunge and the Black Hole, which may be more attractive to parents or teens. Outside food is allowed inside, so bring a cooler if you like. • This is a small local water park, perfect for grandparents and grandkids. Some rides, some water slides and a lazy river. Not huge, but clean and fun.  more »
  • The best Advice I can give with this place is to get there early to secure your lounge chair. They could do a better job with some of the communications. The tables have signs that say Not for Picnics...  more »
  • Had not been here since my own children were small. Visited recently with my granddaughter. What a delightful place! Easy no charge parking, easy entry, inexpensive food choices, lovely picnic areas, ...  more »
  • I took my daughter here when we came back to NJ to visit family. It brought back so many memories!!! The old park is still the same plus they added the water park! As I went through the haunted house and Santa's Barn, I had flash backs from my childhood (good memories, not the ones that you try to drink away). Upkeep of the park looked good too. All the rides are probably older than me and they look great. I'm glad I could share this childhood memory with my daughter and let her experience it the same way I remember. Thanks for keeping the park looking good!!!
  • It's definitely a "get out of the house" destination. But make sure you get out of the house early because they play no games when it comes to closing time. The bathrooms could be cleaner but the facility as a whole is very clean. We have a (almost) 2 year old and a 4 month old and we still had fun. Other than the overpriced gift shop I had a NICE experience. I would recommend to a friend.
  • For kids under 8, it's a great place, it's amazing. Theres small train ride that takes you around the outside of the park, a hay ride that takes you around inside the park, and good entertainment for kids. The price is hard to beat and they allow you to bring in your own food. There are a few adult activities but this place is really just to get out the house. There's a large picnic area with no shade, with other seating areas around food stands. There only pool in this place is only a foot deep with stuff for the kids to play with. There version of a lazy river is only about 2 to 3 feet deep but you have to be on a tube. I fell out of my messing with niece and the Lifeguard immediately blow her whistle at me. Besides the 2 or 3 slides they have, everything else is just a throw in.
  • I took my Godsons here today they are 8 and 5. They absolutly loved it and so did I. Such a great place. Very clean. A lot of life guards. The staff is friendly and the food is good. They want to go again. The older one loved the water slides and lazy river. The younger one loved the Pirates Cove. They both loved the amusment park. I loved the lazy river and water slides for myself. We will be back again!!
  • This park is separated into two sections by not just wet and dry, also by time and quality of the attractions. The water park is small by most amusement park standards but has tons to offer. The water slides have moderate wait times with only the slide where the bottom drops of not really being worth the wait. The kiddie wading pool area had a large but crowded pirate ship and a few small section with slides or animals to crawl on. The only down side to this area is that the life guards are constantly blowing whistles to keep older kids from using pool area attractions incorrectly. The lazy river was great as was the cannon splash area next to it. The dry section of the park is quite dated. Some of the attractions at the far end were around when I was in grade school. The rides are mainly suited for the younger children which is ok, but most of the areas could use some general upgrading to make this area more modern. All in all not a bad section of you have a small child who likes little kid rides. The castle show sounded cheesy to start but was actually well done and fun.
