Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 1,400+ reviews on the web
Set inside one of Oahu's once-vital coastal artillery installations, U.S. Army Museum provides a military history of the islands and U.S. operations in the Asia-Pacific region. The exhibits deal with American involvement in Korea, Vietnam, and the Pacific Theater of World War II, as well as Hawaii's military tradition since ancient times. You'll find that the exhibits offer audio-visual experiences--photos, videos, and sound effects--in additional to displays of military hardware such as tanks, guns, and traditional Hawaiian feudal weapons. Don't miss the Gallery of Heroes, a special section dedicated to recipients of the Medal of Honor and other distinguished decorations. • As a US Army retiree, I've been to a museum or two. This is right at top of the list. The displays are well laid out with excellent written explanations. Hawaii's WWII contributions are ample. A few o...  read more »

  • It's a good way to spend an hour or two. After a renovation the place is looking good. Exhibits make it all worthwhile.
  • Very interesting and informative. Depending on how much one enjoys history, this museum could perhaps keep one entertained for 5 hours. 2 hours was not enough time for me. Best of all, this museum is FREE.
  • Nice museum, but a rude worker ruined the experience for my 8 year old son. She belittled him by making fun of his shirt, loudly calling him a "snob" and embarrassing him to the point he just hung his head and wrung his hands. She tried to shrug it off but did not offer even an apology after I stepped in. RUDE RUDE RUDE. I used to provide financial gifts to this institution but will never even set foot in it again. Also, no one even bothered to reply to me when I sent an email regarding the topic.
  • Interesting miltary museum housed in pre WW1 Battery Randolf.Tbe guns were removed but the reenforced concrete was too well built to demolish after WW2. Lots of information on Japanese Hawaian contributions to the US war effort. Located at the west end of the Waikiki strip. Free addmisson!
  • For all you young parents out their: THIS IS FREE. Kids can look at the tanks out front, the helicopter and big guns on the roof, inside is pretty cool from the slab concrete. Display are interesting and I learned a little!
  • Excellent display. Very well presented with detailed descriptions of everything. My wife and I both enjoyed visiting.
