Categories: Lookouts, State Parks, Nature & Parks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web
Hike, meditate, read a book, picnic, or just enjoy the view from the green grass of Puu Ualakaa State Park, where Elvis filmed "Blue Hawaii.” Take photos of panoramic views of Diamond Head, the Pacific Ocean, and the city of Honolulu from this "rolling sweet potato hill.” Quiet, clean and refreshing, with the scent of eucalyptus in the air, the park is well equipped with restrooms, drinking water, picnic shelters, hiking trails and free parking. Look out for feral cats and mongooses running around. Drive up and down the hill carefully since the road is very curvy. A visit to Puu Ualakaa State Park represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Honolulu vacation planner to plot your vacation.

  • The drive up here from Waikiki is well-worth it! The views of Waikiki are incredible from this angle. It starts from Tantalus Drive and winds uphill past many nice houses on the hillside. After parkin...  read more »

  • One of the best places to go if you want to witness an amazing, picturesque view but don't want to make the hard hike up a mountain. The road up is a single lane road with a few twists and turns so be careful driving on this road, but at around 10 minutes, it's a relatively short drive up. Once you're there you get a stunning panoramic view of Honolulu, Diamond head, and all the cities around it. Absolutely beautiful.
  • We went at night. Beautiful views, however once the sun goes down the drive up the mountain is harrowing. Several miles from the top street lights cease and you're making hairpin turns without being able to see the sides of the road.
  • Best lookout to see all of Honolulu all the way to Diamondhead. Great at night.
  • Great place to see the city . Nice view but limited parking .
  • Great drive up to this place, amazing views and sunsets. Nice escape from the city and one of the best views you can get without hiking!
