Fort DeRussy Beach Park, Honolulu

4.5
#7 of 51 in Parks in Honolulu
Featuring a wide expanse of soft, white sand, Fort DeRussy Beach Park is a great place to relax and play. The generally calm waters are ideal for swimming and snorkeling. If you don't have a snorkel set but want to see the coast's collection of coral and colorful fish, rent one from a nearby beach hut. Bodyboards and kayaks are also available for rental. On shore, you can play a game of volleyball or unwind with a book in the grassy, shaded area. Cool down with a classic Hawaiian shaved ice from the stand outside the Hale Koa hotel. • Good and long beach with space for everyone. It's to much larger pebbles at the sea bottom to get in to swim for my taste. Snorkling is doable but the corals are almost all gone. Some nice fish though.
  • Beautiful beach with great views of diamond Head. The water is awesome though a little rocky. The waves don't too crazy so it's not a great place to surf, probably better to head to North Beach for that. They also have water activities such as paddle boarding, water bikes and water mats. It's decently priced and they also rent beach chairs and umbrellas if you just want to relax on the sand
  • One of the best parts of Waikiki Beach as there is ample parking at the Hale Koa hotel and other nearby lots. Nice amenities such as picnic tables, bathrooms, and a volleyball pit as well. Although part of the military reservation, the area is open to the public. That being said, it can be crowded on weekends.
  • Despite it's popularity this is a very peaceful and tranquil place as are all the Hawaii islands. Honolulu is a modern vibrant city so I have included other photos, not just the Waikiki Beach area.
  • Great beach, lots of room and amazing place to watch spectacular sunsets. There are tables/seating off the beach, and a great grassy bank to lay on with shade from the trees. The pier offers a wrap around view of Waikiki and diamond Head - and if you're lucky, you can watch giant sea turtles swimming in the surf nearby.
