  • We have been coming here for years and the prices are some of the best in the area. Although an hour drive or so, the views rival Heavenly. There are some black diamond runs, but this is mostly a plac...  read more »

  • Homewood is a classic small family friendly ski resort on the west shore of Lake Tahoe. When I mean on the shore, the view of the Lake is right at your feet. It's so spectacular, you feel like you wil...  read more »
  • Man, I love this place. A hidden gem in the world of Tahoe ski resorts. Views, that in my opinion, equal any other resort around Tahoe. The place had an old ski resort feel about it. Great place!
  • Loved it. This is where locals come to ski/board. Great variety of trails for all skill levels. Easy and plenty parking. It is usually not crowded here unlike larger resorts. Family friendly. Food court is so-so, but if you want something little more upscale, there is a great restaurant just across the street. Rental place can be crowded in the morning, so come early. We bought tickets online - there is a separate line to pick up tickets which makes it quick. Will come back for more skiing fun!
  • We had an awesome good time here! Lots of fun. ALL the staff were extremely warm and friendly, very accommodating and helpful. That goes for the folks in the ticket office, ski rental shop, sporting goods store, ski school, lift operators, kitchen and bar. Special mention for Elizabeth, Andy Tania, Justin, Jim, Marty and Stephanie I love that it felt like old school family style skiing, not the impersonal cattle drive you'll find at the big resorts. For a small resort your PEOPLE are the winning combination.
  • If you're reading these reviews, ignore 99% of the complaints. As a LONG TIME ski resort insider, everything that goes on at Homewood from non-transferable tickets to "the scary meter ledge" in the beginner area is all perfectly normal. I live on the other side of the lake and I've always enjoyed an occasional trip around to hit up Homewood in a good season. If you're a beginner, the easy runs are going to seem a little more intermediate than you might like. If you're an expert, unless Quail is open, you're going to be a little disappointed with the groomers but the trees at Homewood are super fun with adequate coverage. Homewood is a very basic mountain, though they're planning a great deal of upgrades. Homewood has been a long time local-knowledge mountain and even with the planned expansion, it might be safer for totally inexperienced skiers bringing the whole family up to Tahoe from...oh I don't know...let's say San Jose - to go ahead and save their patronage for the I-80 boiler plate resorts. Whether you're local or a vacationer, though, if you're more interested in skiing than shopping and you're looking for a mainly intermediate hill, Homewood's the place. You'll also be hard pressed to find better views of Tahoe at any other resort. Ignore the negative reviews. They're either from people who have little to no experience skiing or people who are used to being catered to non-stop. Tahoe is not Vail and we never will be. We're here to cater to people who love their respective sports and we do it exceptionally well everywhere in the Tahoe Basin.
  • I have to laugh at all the complaining in these reviews; these people want to be able to ski or board in some sort of bubble where you can never fall, that the brand of a lift makes it terrible, that I bought a lift ticket and cannot get a refund or scalp it, and that God himself screwed up by not making more green runs built into the mountain. My suggestion to these people is to do us all a favor and stop when you see boreal and stay there. Have always loved this place as you can really get lost in the natural terrain. Great family owned mountain which is so welcoming and truly a throwback to what skiing and boarding is all about; no neon race suited gapers running over your skis or board trying to get ahead one chair here. No hip hop wannabes smoking weed on the chair in front of you and your kids, no foul language and bad attitude from the employees. This is a really great mountain. If you are into glitz and glitter go to north star.
